Haven't seen a red marine warning before I don't think but in terms of national warnings, Hannah (Clare and Kerry) of 26 April 2019 and Ophelia (countrywide) of 16 October 2017 had red warnings.

EDIT: Thanks Artane2002. Storm Rachel (in parts of the west) of 14 January 2015 had a red warning too.

ASCAT winds in the last couple of hours. At 10:20, there were up to 65-knot sustained winds west of 18W. Closer in, up to 40 knots approaching the west coast an hour later.

Satellite animation over the last couple of hours, Shallow low heading rapidly towards N Munster. An increase in winds will be felt to the south and later west of it as it moves in over the region. (hard to estimate were exactly it will make landfall.. but most likely Co. Clare.

Ophelia chickened out of coming past Clare and turned across country. Thankfully. and no complaints here about that warning being amiss for some areas. They interviewed on radio a very perplexed man in Sligo who was keenly watching for Ophelia

Wondering if a marine warning was also red for that event?

Squall line development in Donegal Bay region may now transfer inland across Ulster-Connacht border counties and even into northwest Leinster within 2-3 hours. This appears to be moving east-southeast in phase with meso-scale low forming west of Clare and headed for Kerry with the worst of conditions there timed for about 4-5 p.m.

I think from close inspection of satellite imagery and latest guidance, red alert conditions may also be realized later in northern counties as the powerful central low rapidly descends on Ulster from the northwest. It will get very rough around the coasts even further south to Galway Bay during the early evening hours as this feature crashes into the Antrim coast near Portrush about 8-9 p.m. At the very least I would say this will be a very robust higher end orange alert situation in Ulster later on, but will be suggesting red alert in my own forecast updates.
