Die hard is a chance to watch other people suffering at a Christmas party without having to submit yourself to it.

It's a chance to dream about what you'd like to do to those pesky clients/colleagues/customers from overseas who struggle to understand your accent without eventually flying off the handle and telling them to just send an email.

A perfect way to release some tension and unwind before the festivities begin with your loved ones.

Also, if the scene of them opening the lift to find a guy wearing a sweatshirt with the words Ho, Ho, Ho on it didn't make you feel warm and fuzzy and say, 'Awwwwwwe' then you are some sort of psychopath.

If it needs saying, it's just a far superior film. The older it gets the more charming it is, but even without the 80's-ness, it's a really good action film. Funny, with a hero you actually like, supporting characters that amuse you and a villain with no redeeming characters.
