    Round 1, Match 7:
At last, two films I have seen in the same match!

Although I'm more familiar with the first, I preferred the second, because the premise is very funny.

I like both of these. But definitely has to be the santa Claus. A lovely film and as Toto said, it's aged well!

The Santa Claus...Its much better than Christmas with the Kranks

And that puts The Santa Clause in to the second round.

Meet Me In St. Louis, because clang clang clang went the trolley, and I'm a fan of musicals.

I have never seen Meet Me in St. Louis in its entirety - only bits of it -, but it gets my vote for that rendition of the song, even though I don't really like those kind of musicals! I don't know the other film at all.

Lethal Weapon, because its lots of fun and action packed, and I've actually seen it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Oooh Lethal Weapon! Watched it for the first time recently (I know!) and it's so much fun. Obviously I'm not on board with the whole Mel Gibson thing but I really enjoyed the movie.

Abstain. I don't like Nativity at all, and while I like Lethal Weapon I don't see it as a Christmas movie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,538 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    Cannot vote here.
Haven't seen Nativity and Lethal Weapon doesn't strike me as Christmas fare.

I'm sure everyone is glad to see someone posting about not voting.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,499 ✭✭✭Yester

Lethal Weapon because it mentions the worlds worst Christmas dinner and is therefore a Christmas movie.

    nativity
because I like Martin Freeman, and Lethal Weapon is not a christmas movie!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,318 ✭✭✭Declan A Walsh

Lethal Weapon because it is a bit of fun. Also (as per usual!), I did not see the other film.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, because it's got great music, and blew my mind as a kid, although I question its validity as a Christmas Movie - is Christmas even mentioned in it anywhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,498 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

Willy Wonka as I watch it every year without fail over Christmas. An absolute classic (and one of my choices)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

Willie Wonka, all day every day. Superb adaptation, great songs, Wilder is wonderful

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,499 ✭✭✭Yester

Willy Wonka because Gene Wilder is fantastic in it and also because Grandpa Joe is still universally hated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,538 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    Willy Wonka.

    Because of the memories.

Willy Wonka despite the creepy overtures of a recluse inviting kids to a candy factory.

    Round 1, Match 10

My vote goes to Willie Wonka etc. because it is a bit of an iconic movie with some gentle, but off-the-wall, humour! I have never seen The Holiday Inn in full, but I am fed up of that clip!

Edit: I see it's already through!

    God I hate Scrooged.

    HATE IT.

So therefore by default I vote for Christmas in Connecticut
