Whats peoples opinions on accessing the Lombard Street East counter flow lane coming from Westland Row - use the lights or try to switch lanes across the traffic coming down Westland Row? Always busy there with either traffic or pedestrians. Thanks!

Half the cyclists on it are going the wrong way so it’s an easy mistake to make.

    There's two - one with-flow and the other contra-flow:

Ah! Apologies - I haven't been on it for a few weeks.

And the southbound cycle lane from the windjammer to Pearse Street has become a parking protected cycle lane as of last week i.e the cycle lane has moved next to footpath and a lane of on street parking immediately to the right between the cycle lane and southound traffic

i often walk over from Connolly , plenty of cyclists using the west side cycle lane (heading south) as a contra-flow!!, also noticed Lombard street has parking outside the east side cycle lane...the whole setup looks odd...

the setup isn't perfect but it's decent by Dublin standards (except the bit they haven't changed at the quay end southbound). Cyclists aren't used to this setup, and also some of them don't seem to be able to see big painted arrows on the ground.

To answer the OP - the best option is to take the lane on Westland Row and move to the right to access the contra-flow section, but you could also use the pedestrian lights at the junction (it'll take 2 light sequences to get across though). Westland Row itself remains a mess.
