Freezing on top of the car here in North Clare, spitting light rain but lovely fern leaf like patterns of frozen precipitation
    forming.

Last time i remember freezing rain was 2010

Half chance of a dusting through the southern half of Kildare over the next 45 minutes or so and perhaps in to parts of south Dublin (and of course north Wicklow).

    Snowing daddyo in Mountmellick now.

Nice backdrop to the brandy, cigarillos, Hendrix, Grandmaster Flash and 2 YouTube curious tomkittens.

    Lashing snow in Sligo

Not surprising, sub -4c @ 850 hpa level well in to the western half of the country (plus your wind direction has temporarily gone off shore)

Anything that falls from now on tonight is likely to be snow.

Higher cloud tops moving in to southwest now associated with various troughs and occlusion - that's the entertainment for later this morning and through the day.

Wind just gone off shore for you but on shore again soon so maybe going back more to hail sleet soon.

If wind had been off shore for you the ground temps would be lower - further inland it will sticking readily though.

It's too light, need precipitation with more punch. Temps are dropping now though - later this morning and early this afternoon is when to keep a keen eye ;)

Are you close to the coast?

On shore wind is a killer.

    Inland is fine.

Yeah looking at it, as soon as the cloud reaches here it seems to break up and light sleet or light hail falls and it isn’t very exciting lol. Thanks anyway, maybe more luck tomorrow if we even get any precipitation at all lol

Not great tbh even at that elevation. You need to be further inland really. I wouldn't rule out some flakes but that onshore wind...

Some snowfall possible in Limerick within the next 30 - 45 minutes in the precipitation band from the southwest which is entering cold air now.
