I’d be glad someone found the significant others bum attractive- people would seriously want to lighten up a bit !

Fair enough if that's your thing.

Fcking ridiculous, the whole thing. Every bit of it.
    Him smacking her ass, stupid.
The awful news report about it is worse.
Him being named and shamed worldwide including his social media profile and any side activities, is beyond ridiculous.

I have had my ass smacked in public, by a random stranger. Never did I feel humiliated or assaulted. I felt confused for about 3 minutes, and then forgot about it mostly until now.
But were you on live TV in the middle of doing your job?

That's why it spread - because it was literally on the news. I mean I wouldn't like the guy's life destroyed by it (but he deserves criticism, especially for his hypocrisy as a Christian minister - idiot), particularly as he has children, but he put himself on camera. Nobody else did. It was already in the public domain.

I think she should just accept his apology (even though it's bullsh1t - the "sorry" is only due to the backlash) and let it be, and I don't think it warrants a huge storm, but the dismissal is really reflective of a growing sh1tty attitude towards women.

Also you may not have felt humiliated - I've been slapped on the arse countless times and I haven't felt humiliated either (well the older I got - it's not nice when you're only in your early teens) but it would definitely be humiliating for someone reporting on live TV. It's a bit pointless to compare it to anything other than that.

Some people are idiots and they slap strangers' arses - unfortunately. It's not news. But this is considerably different.

I did a bit of research on this sexual harassment stuff and particularity the litigious attitude to it in America whether it is on the high end of the scale or lower end of the scale like the OP's post.

Yeah it was wrong I get all that but is it not just a slightest bit of an OTT reaction subsequently?

This woman here sued for 10m dollars from an airline as she was sexually assaulted on a plane.

    10m dollars!!!

On the other end of the scale a male boss got sued for farting at his male work colleagues and pinching thier nipples.

I notice the tone seems more lighthearted this may or may not be because it involved a male and farting.

I then in the interests of fairness did a quick internet search for - 'man sues woman for sexual harassment'. Imagine the slagging a fella would get if he did...sue a woman for sexual harassment? :D

It yielded no results. Only men suing women for falsely accusing them of sexual harassment.

As for the smacking the ass thing. I have been playful groped or smacked on the ass by work colleagues when I was younger. Yes women do it to men - but the men do not give out about it!

But I noticed those days are gone and I would be lucky to get a glance side-wards these days. :o

I am just wondering how much a smack on the ass would 'win' in American court get a $2m for one cheek? $4m for both? :D

The OP's post deals with a society who is ultra litigious and out for a quick buck.
The turning it into a women's empowerment thing masks the truth in my view

In Ireland he would have been just told to f off at worst or it would have been laughed off at best.
But being a 23 American woman in a high profile job this is only going to one way.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

how hard is it to just keep your hands to yourself? I manage to do it all the time, every day, without even thinking about it.

I have no sympathy for this guy if he gets sued and/or faces charges. It was a stupid thing to do to begin with, but to do it with so many witnesses around, a camera and to do it to a reporter, who has more media access than your average person to begin with - that's just earning extra idiot points right there. Actions don't always have consequences, but this action will.

I wasn't live on TV but was on a podium practicing a presentation and there were plenty people around watching.

But I still thought nothing other than confusion for it. He ran off cackling.

We constantly have people bleating on about "Her word against his.", "No evidence.", "She's just after the money/fame."

Yet when presented with a simple, clear-cut, case of a woman having her arse slapped, we still have people turning themselves inside-out and upside-down to excuse/trivialise it.

Also I’ve often seen woman slap men’s arses and even more Invasive activity (not ass, other side) and women have shouted the man down saying it’s all “a bit of fun”.

Can't do anything these days and certainly not in Muirica the litigious leader of the world cha ching.
Plus the women does not seem that upset about it.
It seems like more of a chance for some money, a human interest story and makes far better news than covering a race.
Plus there is the 'empowerment' angle sisters doing it for themselves etc.
    Win win for all concerned.

Off camera the woman is counting the money in head, and the whole news crew are going on a big night out when she cashes in. :D

    Like, sh1t sandwich level thick.

They all know it's a completely crap thing to do - to fecking slap someone's arse while on camera doing their job, unable to react... I mean, it's a rotten thing to do. And they know it. But it's essential that they downplay it simply because she's a woman. End of.

Was at my christmas party last week and my female colleagues were slapping my male colleagues arses and ripping open their shirts and not a word was said.

I was disgusted to the pit of my stomach over the behaviour of some women I saw last night at a social event.

They were mauling and pawing a middle aged quiet married man

He mildly objected and he was subjected to fierce sustained humiliation from the women

“Are ye gay ye must be”

    “Grow a pair”

    “Man up will ye”

“Get a life ye sad case”

    It was revolting.

Rubbish. A man wants to sue a woman for sexual harrasment? When is that ever likely to happen.
I challenge you to find one single case of a man suing a woman in the same scenario.

I think women and litigious america are actually doing women a disservice by sensationalising incidents like the above. It makes a farce of serious sexual assault. 'Violated' etc .

That is my view on it anyway. But sure we look well on the way to be the 51st state now.
People identity with this 'american culture' in Ireland now and I think that is a bit sad.

I can remember hearing on radio a father was upset because his young daughter age 12 kissed another 12 year old boy. Not because of the kiss but because of the reaction of the girls friends they shunned her. As they said that she should have got consent! They are still going out with each other he said by the way.

So I think all in all this empowerment/consent issue is actually doing more harm that good. Obviously in the OP's post it is clear cut.
    But the sensationalist reaction afterwards?

I have seen other cases where a male reporter got his trousers (by a male messing) pulled down.

Women seem dying to turn it into something else and make everything a big issue. The hyperbolic blinkered nature of some of posts on this thread prove it.

I'm sorry, but I actually believe that he could have slapped her back from reading up on the case. Which, before people say that nobody should touch anybody, back slapping is not sexual and is actually part of the whole sporty culture.

Tbh, I kind of believe that he did not, if he did, inted to actually slap her bottom. I am sure we will find out as she reported it to the police and there are most probably other videos from the event.

Here is her twitter if you would like to read up on it.

    https://twitter.com/wsavalexb?lang=en

    https://nypost.com/2019/12/10/runner-who-slapped-tv-reporters-behind-speaks-out-i-got-caught-up-in-the-moment/

    In other news:

Women who are disagreeing with the reporter are being called handmaidens by feminist groups :D I am vague on the details of the story, but it's like people being likened to either people who facilitate rape or breeding machines depending on how the word is used.

What a mad world we live.

What are ye on about? Where the hell did I say it's ok to slap a man on the arse. Oh that's right - I didn't. Only ye brought that up. What hypocrisy? Who else said it's ok for a woman to slap a man on the arse. Bingo - nobody. Your whiny whatabouting is causing you to imagine things. It's not complicated - criticism of something happening to women does not mean being ok with the same thing happening to men.

It's crappy of anyone to slap anyone on the arse - and particularly if they're in the middle of a live broadcast.

Only ye are making it about the sex of the person - and this babble about empowerment and feminism and viewing mistreatment of men as equality: again, all in your heads. And idiotic women who do slap men's arses - why are you saying all women do that and are ok with it Beechwood? Never in my life did it or thought it was ok. And women deserve a smack on the arse because some imbecilic women smack men on the arse? You really need to think stuff through. Your comment too "she probably enjoyed it if the camera wasn't rolling" - stay classy.

And apparently women felt flattered or thought it was just a laugh years ago. No evidence for this of course but must be true.

I wouldn't sue obviously but it's fecking annoying getting your arse slapped by a stranger. It's obnoxiously rude.

She's going OTT now (much to the delight of folk here) but just looking at the incident by itself, it was an objectively sh1tty thing to do, which they know full well.
