Fairly coherent to be fair to him. No long pauses like on previous shows. Fair play to him.

    This is sad.

Ah we take the good days and bad days from Shane- this is one of his best TV days in the last 30 years.

    Why the stale pints?

It's terrible what alcohol can do to a person.

Fairly shameful from RTE basically broadcasting a wake for a fella who hasn't even died yet.

    The poor fella is incoherent.

It's mostly the coke that has Ryan ruined.

If it’s the pints on the table. It is.

For Shane it’s actually one of his most articulate interviews in many many years- This is a celebration.

    This is terrible television.
It's like everyone around the hospital bed just waiting for him to go and hanging on his last words as he says goodbye to everyone.

I once drank in the same bar as Shane. Was a bit star struck & didn’t approach him. He seemed happy to be seen anyway & relaxed. Maybe from the alcohol. A good claim to fame. Must be about 15 years ago now. Sublime music.

Not really sure what to think about this at all. Think I'd just like to remember and watch Shane and kirsty singing black and white edition of fairytale of New York.

hansard has a new album out and cant sell enough from his homeless ****e so he jumps on this poor individual.

This is one of the most tragic performances I have ever seen by a man that is embarrassingly a shadow of his former self. A live most wasted and ravaged by excess, legal and illegal. Gone are the glory days of when he played "Tom" in Father Ted.

I remember seeing the rogues in the SFX in 1985
    Brilliant gig

Makes me glad I got dried out in 1996 and stayed dry since.

Apart from not being able to stand, the stare is scary AF. Looks like he's watching somebody being disembowelled .

He won't see much more if he keeps drinking that stale Guinness!

Sorry I totally disagree. He’s been like this for a number of years now- his brain is still great- his articulation isn’t - but please don’t “write him off” as you’re doing.

I’ve fond memories of the pogues. Went to the fleadh in Finsbury Park when I was living in London in the mid-90s. The pogues were headlining. Shane showed up late and paralitic. Spent a lot of the fog getting sick on the stage. Pure poetry.
