With respect, you're only proving the point. Your payslip shows that you will earn approximately €49,000 this year despite "no overtime available here" and only being on the job four years. That is very solid earnings for someone only starting their career. You may not personally be earning 1300 a week but many of your colleagues are earning that and more. That figure of course represents an average - and with only four years under your belt you are far from being average. What's the average service.......15 years, 20 maybe? My recollection is that figures from the CSO for actual pay (as opposed to the misleading salary scales) show that average pay for all Gardai is approx €65k per year. Furthermore, there is a lot of bleating about that including higher ranks etc - from memory, average pay for Garda rank is ~ €60k per year. Now, I'm not saying that's too much or too little - but it's impossible to debate the merits of Garda pay without first establishing what they're actually paid.

I'm not proving any point other than that I'm not on 1300 a week which was previously stated blindly as a fact with no reference to averages.
I also clearly stated I'm not complaining about my pay

No I won't, I told you what's on it. If you don't believe me then fine, I'm not trying to convince you anymore.

    Fair enough.

I can see online, anyways, what a 4 yr guard gets paid.

    Basic Salary= €40,297 (from Sep)
    Boot allowance= €2.93 * 52 =€152.36
    Uniform allowance= €4.39 *52= €228.28
    Shift allowance= €10,074.25 to €12,089.10

    Total minimum gross = €50,751.89 to €52,766.74

    Total minimum weekly (annualised)= €975.99 to €1014.74

A guard at the top of their scale (17 yrs experience)

    Basic Salary= €54,469 (from Sep)
    Boot allowance= €2.93 * 52 =€152.36
    Uniform allowance= €4.39 *52= €228.28
    Shift allowance= €13,617.25 to €16,340.70

    Total minimum gross = €68,466.89 to €71,190.34

    Total minimum weekly (annualised)= €1,316.67 to €1,369.04

I haven't mentioned, either, the financial benefits of a fast accrual pension.

Doesn't really answer my question. Am I right in assuming those figures are based on a future pay raise?

The first point on the Garda scale is €30,296. However this does not include allowances, this is an important distinction!

For example, all frontline Gardai who work the guards roster get unsocial hours pay.

Such allowances amount to between 25% and 30% of earnings. Source: Dáil statement, MOJ, April 2016.

Therefore, renumeration for a first year guard is between 37,870 and 39,384. Not bad for an entry level job that only requires a leaving certificate (grade D3 minimum in five subjects at ordinary level).

I refer you to an earlier post

It gives the salary scales for each rank and shows the different salaries dependent on when the person joined the guards. My post above explains the significant addition to pay provided by some allowances.
