Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are certains forms of fraud worse than others?

    The reason I ask is because one of my friends who is 19 will be travelling to the States next week. He says he will use a fake age card there to show he's 21. If he gets caught, he'll just get the card confiscated and nothing serious. Same thing happens here as well I've heard

    This is surprising to me. Two years ago, I forged a script and got cautioned by the guards. They say I was lucky I didn't get prosecuted.

    Why isn't prescription forgery treated the same way? Is it worse than using a fake age card? Don't think I've ever heard of someone cautioned for a fake age card.

    Yes, there are variations, both between and within jurisdictions, depending on the objective of the fraud, admissions by the accused, remorse, etc.

    Bars, etc. in the USA tend to only accept driving licences and passports.
    If he gets caught, he'll just get the card confiscated and nothing serious.
    This is what he hopes, it doesn't mean this is how it will pan out.

    You cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, equate a fake age card with the forging of a script for prescription drugs.

    I can't accept that you do not see the difference nor the seriousness of forging prescriptions.

    Carry on with that attitude you won't be long before you are charged. It is more than a little troubling that at the age of 19 you had the brass neck to forge a fake prescription and walk into a pharmacy.

    Cop on to yourself before you do get into serious trouble.

    50 tablets of 2mg diazepam. That was originally given by my G.P.

    Yeah that's more commonly known as valium and it is a benzo. GPs won't prescribe them any more because of the number of people abusing them/ using them recreationally.

    These are the problems we are now facing as a society in Ireland. People think that illegally trying to procure a whole heap of prescription medication which could reasonably end in a death or deaths is no worse really then trying to get into a nightclub on your 17th birthday by producing your big sisters driving licence to the bouncers.

    I'd amend that to "a person" not "people". Under no stretch of the imagination does his view of life reflect society.

    Pretty sure he mentioned having bipolar disorder. It’s a ****ty illness to have, so much so that you statistically likely to die by suicide. Disinhibition and reckless behavior are symptomatic of manic episodes - that are experienced by sufferers by definition - as are grandiose ideas. Substance abuse is also common, which makes it even more certain he won’t be getting unsupervised access to benzos

    I would guess he might have tried to get the benzos from the same pharmacist who provided mood stabilizers. This would have raised a flag if so.
