Avoca / Broadband

    Hello all,

I am soon moving to Avoca as we bought our new home and checking broadband providers, it is very complicated.

Imagine keeps calling me for up to 150mbps/55 euro deal but looking at the forum it doesn't look good as reputation.

I do not want any "peak hour" nonsense as it is our only time home.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Anybody use any other ISP?
I wish SIRO came in but seems it is not near future =))

Most of the area around Avoca is well covered by eir's Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH). The town centre is covered by eir's FTTC fibre cabinets, but the roads around are fibre-to-the-home.

Check your location on eir's map

Avoid Imagine - it is a wireless solution.

    Heyo

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
I will try to call the broadband providers tomorrow and see if they can provide.

    https://www.airwire.ie/index.php/avail/main/

Put in your eircode there and see can you get FTTH

It tells me that I do not have FTTH but have VDSL Broadband
    (up to 100 Mbit/s)
    How is AirWire on that?

Did it give you specific speeds with that or just that it is available ?

If no specific speeds are mentioned, then it's based on that a FTTC cabinet is nearby. We can from there try to get OpenEIR to get you listed to provide the service. The exact speeds would not be known, until the line is in.

If we can't get OpenEIR to enable the premise, the deposit is refundable. And we may know some alternative providers in that area, too.
