That's two Scottish tries now where he chickened out of tackles.

100% a penalty to France just before the try there. Dupont hands on the ball and Scottish player on the ground holding on to it to stop him picking it up.

It was Gilchrist, you could see he thought it was penalty advantage and was trying to kill it dead.

Just watching the replay, Dupont had no interest in covering across for that try

Surely retreating Scottish player caused that Dupont knock on illegally?

But he also makes assertions that I think are just wrong.

For example a minute ago he said that red cards really suck the life out of teams. In contrast we've seen amazing 14 man wins, Ireland v sa, racing v Toulon, toulouse v racing etc.

I’m not a fan of Gilchrist at all, red scrum cap makes him stand out but he doesn’t do much but Cummings is abrasive, has a bit of scrap about him.

Scotland tackles are very slow and deliberate to roll away they know exactly what they’re doing.

There are a lot of borderline tackles up around the shoulder neck by the Scots, the referee not seeming too interested but some have been obvious.

france appaling today - game over ?

More than a hint of luck about that, the bounce favoring the Scots, perfectly.

How unlucky for Dupont there. Great try from McNally.

Typical of Scotland to win this and hand the championship to their lords and masters

France must be sickened by that last try conceded. The game was over once that idiot got himself sent off in the first half. Discipline cost them in the World Cup and it's cost them here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

The penalty on the Scottish line at the start of the second half killed the game. A France try and you'd back them from that position.

Hamish Watson should be in a Lions discussion. He's sensational.

Him and Ritchie both. There are some amount of options for the backrow

Can see England dominating the 6N for a while.

Reckon they'll win 3 or 4 in a row at least from here.

What’s the window for citing after a 6 nations match?
    Any word on Joe Marler?

France have a lot of talent coming through so it won't be that straightforward for England. We could be heading back to the England/France carve up days of the 90s and early 00s though.

Longer term Wales are going backwards and Scotland are going nowhere. We should still have a chance of championships in the odd numbered years when we have England and France at home, although it will be tough for us.

I don't think any nation has ever won the title outright 3 times in a row (the title could be shared for the vast majority of the tournament's history). I don't see that changing any time soon.

England are a very good team but they still managed to lose in Paris and could very easily have lost in Edinburgh. Better teams than them have failed to win titles.

Depends on the Italy result, and the result England gets against Italy when their game is rescheduled.

If France lose this and don't get a BP they'll be ahead of England in the tables on 13 points each but France top on point difference. We're behind by 4 points but obviously a game in hand.

So if we got a BP against France and then a BP against Italy whenever it's rescheduled we'd be guaranteed to win the tournament.

Either way there's no way this tournament's winner is decided before the end of the 6N period, it all depends on the rescheduled games.

Given the situation in Italy now the postponed games won`t be rescheduled for anytime in the near future unless the decision is made to hold them behind closed doors or in a neutral country.

The 6n game next week is possibly going to go ahead in an empty stadium or else be postponed

I'm currently watching Juve v Inter in an empty stadium, so that is an option. However England v Italy could have been played behind closed doors too, but they decided against it. Probably for what it the cost to the Italian union monetarily. That's why I expect the games to be held off until the start of next season.

It's also why I expect the France game next week to either have spectators in attendance or not be played. It won't happen behind closed doors IMO.

Quick Question: is there a trophy for every fixture played in the 6 nations?

    No. Only for some games.

Ireland play for a trophy against England and against Scotland. There is none for beating Wales, France or Italy.

The Calcutta Cup between England and Scotland is the main one. The rest are meh, nobody cares.

That Scotland and France trophy has only been a thing for a few years now. They've created 3 or 4 trophies in the past decade or so.

They created one last year for Doddie Weir for the Scotland Wales fixture. The inspiration for them can be good, but they aren't seen as major trophies.

"At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation that the France - Ireland match has been postponed".

I'd put the chances of it going ahead at less than 10%.

At this point the question is what can be salvaged from the season.

Maybe so but if a decision is going to be made to postpone the game or switch it to a behind closed doors affair then it needs to be announced now. The match is scheduled for less than a week away FFS.

I’m not addressing Ryan because I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Like I said, to bring in whataboutery like that makes you no worse than Eddie Jones.

We’re talking about Manu Tuilagi, you randomly brought James Ryan into the conversation because you love a row with people.

Manu Tuilagi got a deserved red card. End of. You agree with it, so stop arguing with people over it.

ok then - take Henshaw vs May a couple of weeks ago

When Tuilagi started his tackle movement against North, he was set to hit North in the same area Henshaw no arms / shoulders May. both illegal, both reckless. North stays up , same result. But he goes down, looks a lot worse. If May goes down, looks a lot worse.
was missed - clear penalty try for Eng
What's so different with these two cases except that North goes down after the tackle is started but may doesn't?

Does tuilagi deserve all the internet outage?
