Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The whole citing has turned into a joke at this stage.

The "bans" handed down are minimal to say the least. For Marler most expect a real long ban and he doesn't even get the minimum.

Manu has history of this but still only 4 week despite trying to decapitate a player. Then a French lad, full punch into the face and 3 weeks.

They really are letting the game go to poo. Even Jones getting away with it after what he said. At this stage, soccer has a better discipline organization

These punishments surely will have no effect on respective international teams as no 6N games until autumn.

There could be no rugby until the Autumn and the refixed 6N games could be the first games of the new season.

I can't believe that the WRU are going ahead.

I can only assume they need the cash but it's an absolute disgrace.

Aside from Scotland, the UK is business as usual. St. Patrick's Day celebrations are proceeding in London. Cheltenham continues. Premier league only postponed this morning after a number of individuals involved with the teams tested positive.

It's insane to think that the game in Liverpool proceeded on Wednesday night after all mass gatherings and educational activities had been cancelled in Madrid. Approximately 3,000 fans travelled to Anfield from Madrid for the game.

Well they want to improve herd immunity apparently, oh, and they have better medics:

Have to say, I'm far more comfortable with our response than the UK's... by a considerable margin.

Time will tell who has got it right.

Initially I thought it was madness not closing schools up here (NI) and in GB, however I then read a report from Italy that they closed the schools too early there leaving grandparents to pick up the slack, and because kids are overwhelmingly asymptomatic, a lot of the grandparents got sick and hence the crisis they face there.

I guess employers are going to have to be very very flexible over the next few months.

Regards the match tomorrow...it seems madness that it's going ahead, selfishly it means there is some sport on the Tele, and it might be the last for a while, but it should never be going ahead.

Why go ahead. I could understand if it was just finishing it off but there are so many postponed till October that it would just be cleaner to end it there for now.

Because more than any other entity the WRU want to sweat their asset, full house Saturday and a bumper extra match or two when the other countries are playing off in October. That stadium sees some use.

Good thing I've a backlog/archive of older Leinster/Munster/Ireland games on my hard drive to rewatch. Back to the glory days.

I imagine thats what you'll find in HD on the sports channels too.

Actually, must cancel my subscriptions, no point paying to packages for **** all.

Has British exceptionalism extended to the point where they believe a bit of blitz spirit will put a stop to this virus business?

Must be very frustrating for people who have travelled or taken a day off.

    Was thinking this myself.

For all the talk of postponing competitions to April/May, I reckon it will be the summer before sport returns, that's a lot of subscription money for zero return.

My rugby team landed in Wales this morning...my work had already forbidden me to go, but I feel a bit sorry for the lads.

Good point. No reason for Eir sports if there's no Pro 14. I'll keep Sky though because there's still Super Rugby. For now.

Anyone got picks for the team of the tournament, albeit, a shortened affair?

    Mostly France and English players

Maybe Ryan from ireland, Conway as well

Nobody else really....Larmour was good at 15 but not team of tournament

I'm finding it hard to remember, tbh, but from Ireland, Stander deserves a shout as well but that's probably about it.

Ntamack and Dupont for the half-backs. Ollivon and Alldritt. Itoje. Maybe Tompkins from Wales?

Stander does deserve mention but I dont think he would get the 8 jersey.

There's no Irish player in the running for team of the tournament imo. I thought Conway has put in our single best performance against Wales but nobody else is in the conversation for me.

Aldritt by a distance, despite Stander's two MOTM awards.

    Is the 2020 6N cancelled?

Proposals for 8 Nations tournament (Nov 14-Dec 5) are supposedly as follows:
    Grp 1
    Eng, Wal, Ireland & FIJI
    Grp 2
    France, Sco, Italy and JAPAN

    Three pool games each, then a play-off round 1st v 1st, 2nd v 2nd etc.
Ireland home v Wal, Fij, away to England.

The 2020 tournament is due to be finished on the 24th and 31st of October. These games are to replace the Autumn internationals and the 2021 tournament is due to go ahead on the previously published dates.

I actually havent seen any of those proposed dates for the remainder of 6N anywhere. I saw Laporte saying that Fra v Ireland is scheduled for the 31st Oct.

Nothing has been officially confirmed, but the Indo (and other sources) had these dates last week.

I was thinking that myself...either ourselves or Wales should be swapped into the other pool to balance them out...but I suppose the powers that be would always want to guarentee and England Wales meeting.

To be fair I don't think balance comes into it. It will.just be good to get some games back...although the way things are going I'll believe it when the anthems are being played!

Second or third are probably the most likely finishing positions for both teams, so there's a good chance they'll meet after the pool stages.

    Im sceptical myself.
Not sure how they even manged to get through the soccer in England without multiple cases occurring in each team.
I presume the players will all have to be in some kind of bubble between their camps and family?

Why? The last time Ireland played Japan they hockeyed them in two tests.

Quite simple. Regular testing (twice a week) of every player and member of staff at every club and instant removal from the group of anyone testing positive. And it's not just England. Every league in Europe except for France, Netherlands, Belgium and Scotland has finished or are in the process of finishing their season.

6 tests in 7 weeks will be a bit of a challenge.

Almost like a WC...except Ireland have never played more than 5 games at a WC so it will be a new experience...

Yeah the following season will be fairly full on for players playing international, Champions Cup and Lions matches.

I think they're trying to get as many fixtures into as short a window as possible in the event we're back in lockdown over winter.

Jaopan and Fiji to join with the other Six Nations side for an 8 Nations event this Autumn. There's going to be two pools. One pool will be England, Wales, Ireland and Fiji. The other will be France, Scotland, Italy and Japan.

Once the pool is complete you play the side from the other look who finished in the same position.

I know it’s not going to work out but with all these matches along with a late start to next season and apparently a Lions tour scheduled is there an actual plan to play out a full season with enough available weekends.
