Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gotta laugh. If someone from the soccer/GAA forum came in here and called this match meaningless or a friendly, they'd have 10 replies berating them and reminding them there's no such thing in rugby and they should be referred to as test matches!

whos saying its not a test match?

    however familiarity breeds contempt.

by next march wales and france will have played each other 5 times in 2 years, possibly 6 times if they meet in dec.

so does this game have any actual meaning at all? i hope someone can make a case for it.

i mean, calling it an 'autumn nations cup warm up' game really is just ironic at this stage. Its a run out for both teams... nothing more.

    You spelt "shut up" wrong.

You should be at least a little happy, good win for Otago this morning. Was surprised to see Jamie Mackintosh playing for Otago. Last I heard he was player/coach in Austin, Texas. Put in a good shift for 70 plus minutes.

Its Test match Buer, with a capital T. Get it right FFS. I'm so outraged right now.

    TV3

Don't that even exists any more. Try VM1 if you have VM. Or ITV.

Squidge does a nice bit on the Ire v Ita match.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIskt2KKTEo

Nicely highlights Irelands Forwards structure in attack - 1-3-2-2
I dont concur with the "liberating freedom" statement that they have now have as opposed to under Schmidt.
Ireland under Joe normally had a tighter pod in a 1-3-3-1 to resource the rucks
Thought it odd to see CJ out on the wing.
Connors deserves to start again but he might go with VdF to keep him more on the flanks.

Loosing Ringrose is massive for France.
Henshaw did well v Italy but he's not in the same class as Ringrose at finding and exploiting the space around that attacking framework.
And Ringrose is the better decision maker at 13 in defense.

Honorable mention to Keenan in defense and attack.
I think he should be swapped with Stockdale for Paris.

Keep an eye out for Squidge's captions of Andy Farrell about Owen :pac:
    & Best at the end....cringe!

That has to be one of the weakest Welsh packs that has played in the 6 nations. If the Scots don’t show up today they can really have no complaints about lack of numbers on the Lions tour.

    That’s poor at this level.

Is this being played in Cardiff Arms Park?

    Disgusting comments.

I can assure you that my alma mater served up far far worse rugby than this fare when I was a schoolboy rugby player.

Both packs struggling but the Scots doing better in the scrum if the last one is symbolic

Last match but might be a while before he plays again after that!
Nevermind, saw something about him last week, thought he was playing but wasn't. Apologies

Scotland with all the possession and find themselves 7-3 down.

Fraser Brown having a nightmare at line out time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,038 ✭✭✭TomsOnTheRoof

That all came from the attempted fly hack.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Scottish pack is a bit thick. Why do they keep making daft lineout calls.

Was the groin strain from that too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,155 ✭✭✭OldRio

Who called that lineout. There a lottery throughout the first half and yet 10m from your own line you call that. Madness

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,038 ✭✭✭TomsOnTheRoof

Wouldn't surprise me. Architects of their own downfall nine times out of ten.

The line out call was horrendous. But the defence off the ruck for the score itself was criminal. You don't step away from the ruck and open a gap like that on your weak shoulder.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

This is awful. You have it. No you have it. No, I insist, you have it.

I wonder if the dead rubber is being a factor, nothing really to play for except not being second last

Possibly. Is there a financial benefit to coming 4th vs 5th? Given the current financial I'd have thought that would have given players something to play for?

Half a million more for finishing 4th not 5th

Brown's lineout throwing is awful. They are lofted floaters. It gives the opposition so much time to get into the air and given the conditions it means you can't hit your man with any kind of accuracy. Terrible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,641 ✭✭✭Dog Botherer

might be one of the worst Six Nations games i’ve ever seen. at least Ireland are better than this rabble.

For the Welsh try Lewis-Hughes stood in the gap and didn't jump to challenge for the ball but instead to disrupt the Scottish jumper by jumping into him. Stone wall penalty to Scotland. Poor miss from the officials. Had it been spotted, which it should have been, Wales would have nothing on the board.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,155 ✭✭✭OldRio

At least it can't be as bad in the second half. Can it?

Did Brown mention it to the TJ before the throw? Looked like he said something and was just waved on.

Not sure but it would be incredibly poor of the AR if that was the case. He was clearly standing in the gap.
