    Trans women are women.

Mantras are horrendous, they take a nuanced idea/situation and reduce it down to a 4 word sound bite. Utterly moronic, sure the sound bite may sound catchy and get a lot of use, but does it even scratch the surface of the subject it pertains to... no.

'Trans women are women', 'Make America Great Again', 'Brexit Means Brexit', 'What would Jesus do?', etc...

Simple expressions for the simple minded. Life has a very rich tapestry, which produces a lot of complexity. Always weary of folk who cite mantras, just seems they haven't really thought about things.

Imagine, when there are women with cervical and ovarian cancer, ectopic pregnancies, experiencing FGM and being brutalised because of their sex, having the ****ing nerve to say "trans women are women".

And sadly - as I’ve seen - saying they can “be a better version of women”, I’m not a violent girl but I’d dearly love to kick them square in the ladydique.

Imagine not realising that trans women are being killed because of misogyny. The ****ing nerve.

Oh they do realise. They're glad of it.

Yet when dealing with those who are backward they are quite effective.

    Enlightenment does elevate.

    Violence. So brutish.

Because of actual transphobia obviously. No idea how misogyny could come into it.

Homophobia transphobia is misogyny. It all stems back to a hatred of the female, the feminine. And rewarding of patriarchy.

When you’ve seen someone suffer with ovarian cancer and a man without uterus or other plumbing says they “know exactly what it’s like” - try remaining calm.

Now I am done with you and your posts that add nothing to an important debate.

    Too many.

It would appear “arguing without any salient point whatsoever 101” graduated and logged into boards today.

Cancer is cancer. Do try to create a hierarchy of pain.
You don’t get a say in a life you don’t lead.

    It’s not yours to debate.

You probably thought it was right to have a vote on same sex marriage.

    Wrong.

Anyone know what the hell this means?

Beats the crap out of me - other than we should have had equal marriage from the start but we didn’t - so hence the need for a vote.

Beyond that, without many years of post med school specialising - not a clue!

Good. Then you must accept that males don't get to redefine the meaning of woman and female and dictate to women what terms they are allowed to use to describe themselves and their biology. Its not theirs to debate.

You probably thought it was right to have a vote on same sex marriage.

    Wrong.

Actually, at the time I felt it wasnt right for straight people to vote on same sex marriage, why should I get a say in who people love & marry? but I have many friends who are gay and voted on their request. Also, if most straight people who voted yes didnt vote at all, if we had left the issue for gay people and gave no support, I doubt we would have same sex marriage in Ireland. 'No' voters were very proactive in their voicing of their opinion and voting.

So, as women we have every right to talk about this issue and express our own fears and concerns as it directly effects us in a potentially very harmful and destructive way. We feel that we're being silenced and our basic human rights to safety which women fought for centuries to retain, are being ignored and undermined.

I dont understand and probably never will understand how statistics, facts and even daily news reports across the entire globe show the prevalence of sexually aggressive attacks against women and girls where the perpetrators are almost always men.
Nearly every women has experiences with sexual assault, harassment and being made to feel intimidated by men.
Yet women are still disbelieved, told theyre exaggerating and called radical feminists and transphobes when they dare to express their wish to keep their safe spaces.

If trans people are pro equal rights and pro human rights, surely you must accept that womens rights must be included? Otherwise you are pro mens rights only and youre telling women that they can go **** themselves and that their rights, safety and wellbeing come second class to other people.

Giving trans women the right to identify as women takes away nothing from women.

Trans women get to define their lives.

Nothing is being taken away from you except your ability to discriminate.

    Tough.

Gay people only asked you to vote because they had to.

So you know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of misogyny so you want to reinforce that misogyny.

Name one right a woman will be denied by calling trans women, women?

This. I am all in favour of Trans rights, however not at the cost of removing same sex areas, or riding roughshod over the rights of women (who have been and continue to be the most oppressed group of people in history). A lot of the very vocal Trans Rights Activists (TRA), do seem to use this movement as a disguise in order to attack women. All the 'Die TERF' crap we see is directed at women raising legitimate concern... I haven't see any directed at men. It is the perfect smokescreen to their pathological hatred of women, call a woman a TERF, and then it is wholly justifiable to issue death/rape threats on line (usually Twitter).

That being said, it is also very easy for those who are Transphobic to use any legitimate concern/issue with the way society handles Transgender as a smoke screen to attack Transsexual individuals.

Essentially both sides will have a group within them (usually very vocal), who are scum and just make a very complex discussion/issue into name calling.

    Men: Gender Quotas are bad.

Trans woman: I got a scholarship for college.

Men: We need gender quotas for scholarships.

Their right to female only spaces is paramount - I couldn’t care less about your feelings or what you think you are, I don’t want my daughter or wife feeling uncomfortable in those spaces because some fella thinks he is a fully fledged woman with a working penis. Just look at the example of Barbie in this thread, a mentally unhinged man who is dead sure he’s a female but expresses a wish to rape them. I will in my **** roll over and accept any sort of society that wants that to be the norm - no ****ing way.
