After dinner speech circuit. You can command 80k plus for an appearance. That would be my guess.

Consulting into the private sector would be also quite lucrative for someone like Leo.

Don't think he will be an MEP as it's a step down from his current role but perhaps a Commisioner type role once Hogan is finished.

Image, spin and bluster pays handsomely!

Public speaking gigs I'd say for the most part. Standing in front of a crowd and entertaining them with jovial anecdotes and bland rhetoric is his strength. I'm not being demeaning to him in saying that, it's a skill that most people don't have. But that's all he is - a people person. He's not a grand strategist or a bureaucrat. Some meaningless EU job behind a closed door won't suit his need to be out getting his photo taken at every opportunity.

Formula 1 Mechanic or Fighter Pilot.
I don't think the fact that he wouldn't know anything about it and may be useless at it, would be a deterrent to him.

Maybe he’ll be one of Kylie’s back up dancers! He’s great at following a script, would be the perfect position for him !

Can't see it. The UN have been on at his government for numerous issues from child homelessness to backing vulture funds in the housing crisis. I'd be surprised unless Dara Murphy gets him an EU spot.

When did ever that stop anyone?
Look at the record.. delivered gay marriage, Abortion referendum,, Indian heritage... makes noise about climate change etc. Managed to get Boris Johnson to change his tune..although Boris can change at anytime..

Even Bertie is working across the world as a peace broker..

He won't be working as GP anywhere.

Forgot climate emissions, were at them for that too.
Not saying they wont be hypocrites but I cant see it.
He missed the window on social media darling.
I'd guess a gap year and then some private position like Harney.

I think he puts Ireland first, which is important, he would be wasted working anywhere else.

    Happy new year everyone.

    You're having a laugh right?

He didn't deliver anything, he was actively outspoken on gay marriage until it was clear as crystal that the referendum was going to be passed with an overwhelming majority, then he came out waving rainbow flags etc, pro gay marriage (some U-turn) after others had done the hardwork, then Leo jumped on the bandwagon.

Yes,, I am having a laugh.. glad you spotted it!

Leo always put himself first. I heard a right stinger of a comment from a nurse during their strikes who worked with him while in a hospital.. something along the lines of he never worked hard as a doctor so he wasn't going to start now.

The Taoiseachs PR office appear to have spun into overdrive lately. It’s like they realise he’s done sweet f all for the past three years and need to make him look like a Leader. It’s almost Putin esque in some of the calling cards such as the Christmas swim remind of Vlad on horseback topless

It's never seems to surprise people when they hear how lazy he (allegedly) is. I have heard it a lot of times. First time was a good few years ago when he had a bit more weight on him, and I guessed when he started getting fitter that he lost some of his laziness too. Doesn't seem to have happened at all.
He also set up the spin "Strategic Communications Unit" as soon as he got in. Wasting €5 million in 2017, €8.4 million in 2018. Not sure how much this year.
Somebody spending that much money on making themselves look and sound better says enough imo.

Maybe he always saw politics as his main gig, even from secondary school, and was just doing enough to get by at each stage of his medical 'career'...

According to his Wikipedia page he joined Young FG in secondary school

You would wonder if his joining Fine Gael when in secondary school was a teenage strop to annoy his father .
His mother described his father in an interview as a socialist.

Nah I’d say they’re very middle class professionals- prime FG territory but ironically the people they most fcuk over once in government. Do many real socialists send their kids to Kings Hos school?

Far as I know that spin unit of his was supposed to be shut down in July 2018.
Reckon that toy was taken away from him around then because he looks to be in a permanent sulk since.

Well his mother did qualify it by saying his father was a socialist but a champagne one.
More Labour than Fine Gael so.:)

    Varadkar wants longer opening hours.
His Health Minister Useless Harris wants to stop people using their bonus stamps from the
    Supermarket to buy alcohol.
Who do they think they are fooling?

What does he mean? The club card vouchers? Yea because that’s what’s driving alcohol consumption

They want tourists to be able to piss thousands up the wall at any time of the day or night and high earners to go party in pubs and clubs at the weekend but for the poor and unemployed to not be able to afford enough cans to build up a dependency problem. Surprised they havent just had a try at blatently making off licences only seperate buildings that all close at 6 or something.

It will be interesting to see how many government ministers use public funds between now and the GE in the tradition of FF that they were so vociferous on in the past on attempting to buy votes to save their asses.

So far we have Varadkar attempting to buy grey votes by promising to keep raising the old age pension, while Regina Doherty is telling us it cannot be done and we all need to get private pensions.
I imagine she was delighted hearing Varadkar`s promise that left her hung out to dry.

Goes to show just how dopey he is politically that he realised too late what messing with OAP`s bingo can cause from section of society that actually comes out and votes.

He rubbed salt into the wounds of “the man who gets up early to go to work” and that will be in the working man’s mind when the election comes about.
The grey vote is very important for them too and he gave them nothing in the last budget, they won’t forget. Voters know that he will lick up to the Greens too When the obvious happens and he is short of numbers. They know that will cost them with the Greens madcap policies.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

It will be doubly interesting now that the Greens are no longer under the radar and will have to produce a fully costed manifesto how many turkeys will actually vote for Christmas.

I heard they have come up with a device to fit across a cow’s mouth to count how many times they belch. They have have a set charge for the owner.

After all that we will most likely end up being told what the old farmer said to a bunch of greenhorns looking at a calf`s head and saying it would not make a good bull.

They were looking at the wrong end.

There’s a lot of deluded middle class mini Greta Thingys out there more than willing to vote for that ****e. The Irish Greens are a particular set of fanatics- zero realistic policies or action bar tax things into oblivion- if that’s what voters want it’s hard to save them from such stupidity

Had Varadkar stuck to that and finally made work pay I think he’d have been richly rewarded at the ballot box. Sadly he’s too busy with his fellow UN and refugee council types and playing the virtuous card to a gallery that don’t vote Fine Gael and never will - landing himself and his party in a lose lose situation
