Trying to hook an older tv up to a saor view box and while it connects, the picture is a funny colour. Any tips how to fix it?

Have you the box sitting directly on top of the TV?

Somethimg similar happened to me recently. The problem was the scart lead was plugged into the wrong socket in the back of the box. Changed it to the other socket and it was grand. You could try that....

Is it connecting via HDMI cable or something else?

Check picture settings on the box itself, some will offer different viewing formats that will suit different TV's.

Weird colours like that remind me of the scart days, when it wasn't fully plugged in. Are you using HDMI or scart OP?

    Any updates from the OP?

if issue still there (and assuming SCART) could also try changing SCART output mode - between RGB and CVBS ?

may be found as follows in menu depending on box:
Setup -> Config -> output setting -> SCART mode
