Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Retrofit DCV / MHRV (new build ran out of money)

    I have a heat problem.

When I was building my house I ran out of money. One of the things I cut from the budget at the time was ventilation. We decided to only build the ground floor of a 2 story dormer and I figured I could install it myself before I finished the upstairs.

The house is very well insulated, floor to ceiling glass for a large portion (south facing) and is heated by A2W. Nonstove / fire. Originally it was designed to have MHRV.

Having been advised at the time that dcv was cheaper than heat recovery and possibly as effective I began installing it, room by room. I've put vents in the bedrooms with a view to putting in the rest of the system bit by bit when my wages allowed!

The time has come to finish the system, and the house.

By now though I've learned that my living room can get really really hot and my bedrooms can get a small bit chilly so now I'm thinking heat recovery ventilation might be more suited so that I can transport some of that warm air from the living room to the colder parts of the house and reduce the heating bill whilst keeping the house fresh. The DCV manufacturer has suggested that their system won't help with my heat 'problem' but it will deal with stale and humid air.

Is it worth the extra money and effort to DIY install MHRV and would anyone have an insight into the real life differences between DCV and MHRV?

    Thanks in advance.
