Doddle doddle doddle, doddle doddle doddle, doddle doddle doddle, doddle doddle doddle...

On a separate note, I'd say that girl who says "purrrrrrrrfect" on cat ad has regrets. God, that ad has no redeeming features. :)

What the jaysus is going on that tax assist ad?

Usual stupid man rooting in bin/clever woman trope, but what's the deal with tax deductible carrier pigeons??

they had another gem with a guy stuck in a crevasse trying to find his accountant. They must put some serious brainstorming into these ads

That RTE one about the arts with a bunch of painfully posh sounding kids.

Those preachy electric car ads with grunting dinosaurs.
Doesn't mention the eye watering price of an electric car even with the "savings" taken into account.

Were there always this many health insurance ads on? Or are they just scaring people into buying insurance because of covid. Even though you don't need it to be treated.

Medical advertorial porn and advertising have mushroomed in recent years and stations like Newstalk are wall to wall with medical/nursing home//insurance/funeral advertising and stories. Cradle to grave and utterly disgusting in my opinion.

    Janey Davey on Newstalk

The one with him an Sonia O'Sullivan is childlike and patronising and MENTALLY damaging in the equal quantities.

I agree. Pharmacutical companies advertising directly to consumers is a huge thing in the US - they do this to influence joe/jane doe to demand certain treatments rather then take their GP's advice. I can see this becoming more prevalent here, and I don’t think this is a good idea (I’m not referring to such things as vitamins or headache pills and such).

The extremely annoying O'Meara camping ads are back.
    "tents for events"
what events are on now and who goes camping in January?
    I like those:
"Sir, you did not invent the sleeping bag"
"That's what O'Meara Camping want you to think"

Himself and Sonia finishing each others sentences is annoying.

That fcuking "Keep Well" (sic.) ad that is on nearly every ad break. Go for a walk, wow, that never ever crossed my mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,530 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

    Every ad break on a loop of;
    health insurance company
    the "keep well" covid ad
    funeral directors

And rrrrright now, more than ever wecansaveyoumoneydotie...

It's funny the one thought I was left with after hearing that ad was "Sonia, what was the mental pressure like when you were at the Olympics". And I don't mean that in a mocking sense. Sonia was a star.

But the nonsense with the Chinese athletes appearing out of nowhere to take the medals at one Olympics, the changing of the gear in the tunnel before the race (Pat Hickey :mad:), and then losing to Szabo. She must have been under some mental pressure herself during those years. I'd love to know how she coped with all of that under the public spotlight.

Ads that have different voiceovers in the same ad. One for each line of script. Why???

has there always been this many health insurance ads on the radio? Or is it covid scaremongering, even though you'll still get treated without health insurance.

The music in the Laya one is especially irritable

But, but, but Massey's Funeral Directors really care - shure they'd probably bury you for FREE if you couldn't afford it and as for Home Instead and the Mater Private - they make me want to spew. Medical porn.

There's an ad on Nova for Discount DIY which features a bloody annoying song, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what they're actually saying in the song at the start, which actually makes it even more annoying! It sounds like "If you wanna know about froom, for a family to clean and broom..." What!??

What's Nova? Is it the awful radio station from the 1980s?

It's a rock radio station in Dublin/Dublin area. Only kicked off about 2010 or 2011 sometime.
I used to live up that direction back in the bad old days for a time!

Yeah the music is terrible. It sounds like a computer program composed it.

The generic "Jaaaaaaazz" on the Go Loud ad is equally annoying.

I think it boils down to Covid. No advertising slots for non essential products and their now closed outlets, hotels, events etc. leading to lots of repetition.

I don't know why or what it is exactly; irrational? But that scribble/pen sound on the Davy (trading as Janey Davey Wavey Baby) adverts, really annoys me...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,506 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

'Mark the cat's in the bin........right I'm going to get the hose'....something to do with tax returns?

Mark seems to be a popular name for stupid men in Ads these days - he's frozen in another popular Ad for God knows what and he falls off a mountain in another. Awful, awful Ads that fail utterly in that I can't even remember what product they are promoting.

Being something of a pedant, the latest Ad for the Irish Navy (sic) strikes me as an odd one given that it is the Irish Naval Service not the Irish Navy - even their own website states that: https://www.military.ie/en/who-we-are/naval-service/

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭Endfloat

Pilsen Skoda took the audio from their TV ad, sound effects and all for use on Nova. It sounds bloody stupid with all the sound effects out of context, and I couldn't make sense of it at all until I saw the TV ad and realised what they'd done.

Oh good God...the perky wan off the Dunnes Stores ad. Like Vogue Williams on helium..."greocery vaicher"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,530 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

New covid ad with increasingly angry voiceovers, probably reflecting the fact that some of us out there over a year on still don't get it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭crazy 88

The McCambridge brown bread ad with awful stereotypical Irish background music. Yes, we get you're Irish....
And the even more awful and unnecessary "Is that why it tastes so good?" voiceover thrown in randomly at the end

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭crazy 88

It's infuriating. The voice perks up on random words. I'm pretty sure I've heard the same voice on other ads but the perkiness is toned down. Which means Dunnes are doing this on purpose!

The same company churning out the same ads maybe? They are mostly unimaginative so it's no surprise they can't think of a name for a man other than Mark.

I must be the only one who hates their bread and the kind of wartime/prison bread that always accompanies soup and chowder in this country.
