    - sets them to growing barley to feed the pigs, this isnt 2 acres to feed 20 piggies, more like 150 acres to feed huge intensively farmed pigs in the hundreds, pretty much factory farming of 1920s probably a scale unknown at the time. this crowd are no small time operators no matter what spin the put on it.

Now the two brothers if its them voices on the ad somethings up. One is happy/yappy, diddly idle doo accent. the other has Aiden Gillen crossed with Gerry Fish. I cant even make out what he says "... from feeeaa to fry up..." am i right in this or is it field anyway perhaps hes betraying the the aristocracy accent roots and giving the game away. definitly strange accents on both very litle Tipp there.

You're reading a lot into this but I suspect you're wrong as a brief look at the 1911 census indicates that Brett is an RC name - not that it matters - and as for the accents having aristocratic roots....Lol...just a bogger accent. :D

They're voiceovers, very very few ads feature real people who actually work in the companies advertised, maybe poor old Rory from Nought, Nought, Nought, Nought.

Why do we have ads running currently for a golf nerd hotel and resort in Covid hotspot Catalunya of all places??

Is that the wedding guy from RTÉ giving us the Covid “low down” now? Yer man Franc.

Jesus. I think on purpose they have given us a Hybrid Cork / Tipperary accent for these ad's....to identify with the common Irish countryman.

By the way, has anyone ever heard Kieran Dineen on RTE Prime Time ?
Not sure why this guy got the job, it certainly was not because of his accent.

Tesco have made the shitlist thanks to their foray into back-to-school ads featuring a manic mum. The worst part is that I heard it while listening to a podcast through Spotify. FFS, what's wrong with advertising below-the-belt shaving gear like every other podcast?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

An Post Insurance: another Cork / Tipperary Hybrid voice!

    Is this a trend now?

I was listening to something lately and this ad came on, surprised at the openness of it. No harm I suppose!

Dunnes Stores back to school with that awful percussion music...."Some are older, some are balder...no never!"
Sounds more like balder than bolder.

whats the purpose of the background "music"? yeah i couldnt make out bolder part for a long time, its feckin bacground noise, a lot of ads love noise for the sake of noise now

There's a particularly annoying, utterly useless Ad at the moment for Sage (?) with some lad singing (?) some sort of rap (?) rubbish - mentions his daughter in it. Who pays for stuffh like this and whatever happened to the thing of having your product name all over your Ad otherwise it's useless.

Ah the only thing you need for an ad is Keith Duffy selling something he happened upon to jump on the covid bandwagon. Sure his voice will shift a few units.

Unless we are talking about different ads, its definetley her.
    https://www.voicebank.ie/artist/clelia-murphy

....either way, its just funny how they have gone from being "all in this together" to being a lot more authoritive.

    I stand corrected :P

funny I think they might realise the public mood has changed lately and a lot of people dont feel "we're still in this together" lark! So that's now been ommitted ;);)

Is it my imagination or is the Vision Express (English accented) advert - which finishes with South Doblin Dort nouveau money (we're ewe-pen) the same voice over as Covid public annoncement ... we're all in this together ?

I heard the two back to back a few weeks ago and the tone was almost identical ... if it was a faux English accent that makes me squirm

Irish business luvvie and tightwad Pat Mc D advertising "de Plazas", Supermacs and "Peppa" Johns.

its definitely not Niamh, this was discussed way back at the beginning of Covid.

It is definitely Clelia Murphy. I'm 100%.

The funniest thing about the ad at the moment is the "This message is supported by the Government" just after she has listed every single criteria that they have not adhered to at the Golf Society night out.

They really should have pulled the "support by the Government" part of the ad for it to have any whit of credibility.

That Virgin Media ad about the guy playing piano is just ridiculous. It's not funny, and just goes on forever, and barely makes mention of the product they are actually selling. What a waste of money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,694 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Talking of adverts that go on forever, there is a car one (is it Fiat?) that has terms and conditions at the end that are twice the length of the advert for the car.

Similar godawful one with a record breaking sausage maker of all things, crowbarring in a mention of Virgins (allegedly) high speed internet at the end.

I listen to Newstalk via Alexa and this ad comes on regularly... when I hear it I roar "Alexa! Mute!" :D:D

I hate the Hyundai sponsored AA traffic updates. You have a nice piece of classical music then an electronic jingle. I will never hear "O Mio Babbino Caro" without thinking of that annoying jingle. P!ss off Hyundai.
