    Thanks it seems once the car is scrapped a refund can be sought.

    Exactly, get on to them as soon as you can.
    The refund is calculated from the first day of the month after the disc is surrendered. You'll probably get from the 1st of Feb onwards refunded.

    Send in form and proof of scrapped vehicle and they will refund once 3 months or more....

    Are you sure the vehivle is being scrapped?. If the write-off is a Cat C or Cat D, the vehicle can go back on the road and the tax stays with it
