Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah James, you have to square that. Wide open, game over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Sterling looks awful. Misses that Mahrez kick entirely and then is asleep for the rebound from the follow-up shot.

If United fail to win this they'd have themselves to blame. So many good chances where they could have passed instead of shot

Bruno getting into great positions and being ignored

James has some great attributes but nothing between the ears to put it all together

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,719 ✭✭✭This is it

James again, release the feckin ball

Two toothless looking teams here really. United's goal and best chance came from Ederson and City look like a side who are out of ideas.

    That's what I was thinking.this could be any mid-table match .
    Very disappointing

Been trying to work out who James reminds me of and it's just come to me - Milan Baros. Has all the attributes to be a top player but so rarely makes the right decision with the ball.

How many saves have either goalkeeper had to make? How many genuine chances have either side created?

United's goal was a gift from Ederson and City's best chance was a pot-shot from Foden that was going over the bar anyway.

    Like I said, toothless.

Nah I don't think. Ederson hasn't had a decent save to make aside from the one that he left dribble under his hand .

Problem with that is shots like the Martial one where he should have squared it is a shot and a save. It was little more than a back pass.

Martial for MoTM? Fernandes was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. If United had been on his wave-lenght, the game would have been over by half-time.

Utd have a lot of good players.

They'll probably fork out a load of cash in the summer as well.

A league push will likely be beyond them next year, but you could easily see them getting back into the CL (assuming they can't manage it this year).

United's best player today. Pep has problems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

    That's delightful.

I'm enjoying this not hating Utd lark. Where they are they're largely unthreatening and unlike Chelsea and City there's not really anything structurally hateful about Utd.

They'll be good again at some point, at which point the hatred will return, but at the moment the odd moment of joy from Ole's silly little face isn't so bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

    not just the result.

If Man Utd buy well in the summer they'll be much closer to the top 2 next year.

    Fernandes looks a brillant signing

    Without trying to wind up.

Enough that Ole is capable against the big teams.

I don't think he's a good a manager at all but there's obviously something there. If I was a fan would I want him replaced ? Yes.

But I think with a few more signings United could be good next year

Jesus Christ the hyperbole with Neville, Tyler and keane about united now. Fcuking hell its cringy.
Yeah fair play to ole and them for the results against big teams but any fan deep down will tell you ole is not the right man for the job.
Fernandes is a class signing but will need another 4+ players to challenge for the league anytime soon.

    Enjoy the win

    T Hanks et al :P

Oh I'd sack him right now if I could. Hope I'm wrong but Ole will never lead us back to glory.

Great result for Man United. They were the better team on the day, as far as I could see. Had two or three chances to score if players had squared to Bruno Fernandes too. Dan James, in particular, wasted a few opportunities.

Credit too for the defensive work. A good showing.

City looked jaded. A lack of ideas, no clinical passing or shots... A poor performance and some very shoddy individual displays.

And, as a Liverpool fan, I'm ****ing thrilled. Just six more points!!

Or even less if arsenal and/or Burnley do the job this week too...

Ederson was hilariously bad today. At fault for both goals and very nearly a third. Was very close to a hat trick of keeper blunders.

A bit excessive I thought alright but it pays for Sky to either hype United to the rafters or give them blanket coverage when they are awful. Never a happy medium.
