Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The 1st team is Chelsea, but it's from 18/19 not this season so it's not an up to date question

Juve players and staff agree to 90m euro pay cut for March April May and June.
Should this seasons match’s be refixed then the club will negotiate with the players about pay. In the event they are not refixed the club retains the money

Things sounding bleak in Italy this Morning ontop of the FA saying football returning in early May is very unlikely

Could you imagine the trauma the City squad would have suffered if that happened them.

They barely survived Liverpool last year

so out if 3 uefa options which one would be preferable?

    cancel season
    resume june through summer
    resume late summer/postpone next one?

me personally the first one as it would be over and the dragging and uncertainty would stop, also other options do not seem very realistic.. but who knows..

Just say they cancel the season,at the moment it looks like best case scenario is that football might start again in July, thats when the first qualifying rounds for Europe begin. No one knows when this pandemic will end or how it will turn out,What happens if their is a second wave and football has to be stopped again, now u will have two seasons incomplete, now that would be a disaster from a football point of view their would be pure chaos with nothing solved

HSE saying today they think mid April could be the peak.

Now what that means, peak cases? Peak bed capacity? Etc etc doesn't mean that it's all gravy from that point on but I'd thought much later for any kind of peak talk (like June)

Option 1. Reimburse the TV company’s where and needed. Re-jig the leagues and start fresh next year and finish out the season correctly rather then spoiling 2 seasons to try and finish 1 which looks like it will at best be rushed through or behind closed doors etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,948 ✭✭✭dogbert27

If it doesn't seem realistic to people that this season can be finished June / July why is it realistic that a new season can start in August or that the qualifying for the CL and EL can begin in July?

Surely Finish 1 thats very close to being finished rather than take the risk of spoiling two.

Thats what I find laughable. Finish this season before worrying about next season.

There's still a quarter of the season to go, that's still a lot of games for some clubs.

Id take my chances on getting a quarter of a season finished over a full season.

Once the next one starts it will be done to ensure it finishes and have the goal posts moved with a quarter of the season to run

To finish the current one will envolve moving the goal posts. Be it, behind closed doors or playing in the middle of the summer etc.

A lot of clubs will be unhappy but it will be the same for everyone.

uefa said even if it would be possible to resume games it will be with no audience most likely

so it gave another plus for canceling, just start new once it is safe to do so normally, even this could take a while..

i miss football and fantasy and all that jazz..

    1.
Why would it being okay to play behind closed doors be another plus to cancel the season?

Being okay to play behind closed doors allows this season to be completed with games televised to the masses.

    2.
By saying when it's safe to do so I'm assuming you mean with full stadiums. What if that's not until November?
How will the European Competitions fit in to that?
How will the leagues finish in time for Euros 2021?

If it's safe to play behind closed doors then this season can be finished and a new season can start behind closed doors until it is safe for supporters to attend stadiums again.

If they finish it off behind closed doors it will show once and for all that they don't give two f***s about fans.

If fans can't attend because we are still on lockdown then it should be ended.

Fans create the tension, the tribal atmosphere, and the very soul of what professional football is all about. The fact they can even consider the 'closed door' option shows how little they understand or care about the game other than the cash.
