Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Its still the european cup, always has been. Was only rebranded as the champions league. Liverpool have won it 6 times.

The premier league is a brand new trophy, started in 92, liverpool have never won it but will do so this year with ease

I'm not sure whether to dip in or out of this series or watch it all at once...
Is there anyone with an illegal stream to series 1...

Lies if you want to the detail in it.

The Premiership started on 1992 until 2006/07 from 2007/08 It has been known as the Premier League.

But it all means the same thing since 1888 the winners are League champions of England.

Since 1992/93 they've been the premier league champions.

football wasn’t invented in 92/93 - the top flightchanged it’s name and a new trophy was given. Same with the European cup changing to champions league

    While we're at it, why not go by this;

    1992–1993 FA Premier League
    1993–2001 FA Carling Premiership
    2001–2004 FA Barclaycard Premiership
    2004–2007 FA Barclays Premiership
    2007–2016 Barclays Premier League
    2016– Premier League

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Who's saying it was?

    You're offended very easily...

As you say a new trophy was presented from 92/93 to the winners of the top league in England

The cup presented to the winners of v the European cup / champions league has never changed.

    So there is a difference

Both the FA Cup and League cup have changed, do we count them separately too?

Are different trophies presented to the winners of them when they changed their names

Be interesting see what happens at Wolves. 3 or 4 of their top players linked with moves. Ckub is going well in Europe too

Sure has. In 2005 Liverpool kept the last European Cup for ever. The current one has been awarded since 2006.

I genuinely thought that was the whole point of the likes of Neves going there... to sell them on?

It’s always been very important to Utd fans (in Ireland anyway) that Liverpool have not won the ‘Premier League’. If / when that happens we will revolve back to ‘20 > 19’ unless and until Liverpool even that up. I suppose at that point there may be an effort to compare ‘Premier League’ trophies as their own category?

That said, I’m sure the same shoe was on the other foot circa 1997 with Liverpool fans trying to lord league title and European Cup totals over Utd fans.

The one thing we can all agree on anyway is that when this sort of stuff is all you really have to hand as a barb it is grim times indeed. :)

They're owned by an extremely wealthy Chinese company, who have goals of making Wolves one of the biggest clubs in the world. Don't seem like a club that have any intention of selling their best players, unless they want to leave themselves you'd imagine.

Sure Liverpool were like Denmark, pass back merchants. Took them 28 years not to be and now they're reaping the benefits :p

And you were defo here to tell the Pool fans that on here over the years. Oh wait....

Given that many Liverpool fans have treated United talking about their last title win in 2013 as 'history' and the digs about 'Reeling in the Years F.C.', presumably referring to 20>19 would fit into that category. Thus the more modern option of 13>1 would presumably be the more considerate choice. ;)

LFC > MUFC simple enough choice really.

Yea, but I thought that a 'super agent ', was it Jorge Mendez, had an interest in a lot of those players, the Portuguese/Spanish ones, and the idea was to get them exposure in the EPL.

Well let's just keep things simple with the fact that Liverpool are the most successful English football club of all time and see if Man U can catch up.

From a piece in the Guardian from 2017:

"Mendes’s first client is the Wolves manager, the club’s Chinese owners have a stake in the agent’s company and his influence has been clear in some signings."

Theres no denying the link but I'd assume that given how well things have gone for Wolves since promotion and how establishing them as a European level team or perhaps challenging for a Champions League spot is now a realistic option, the owners might reject interest in some players and see how far they can push it.

That sounds very much like the 'history' and 'Reeling in the Years FC' type stuff which many Liverpool fans on Boards don't like to talk about. Out of respect for their wishes surely it's best just take into account the Premier League era onwards. It will make it all the more special when Liverpool go level with Leicester and Blackburn on one Premier League title.

English Leagues only started when Sky came about?

In 1000 years time Rochdale could be the most successful team in England. Comes and go

Talking about what United accomplished during the Premier League era is considered 'history' now, so anything before Sky is presumably pre-history. :)

Just following the logic to its natural conclusion. If we're told by Liverpool fans that 1992-2013 of the PL era is considered 'history' and 'reeling in the years', then it stands to reason matters prior to 1992 ought to be dismissed doubly so.

If Liverpool fans would rather deal with 13>1 over 20>19, and 2-2 on Champions League wins over 6>3, then I guess that's a cross United fans will have to reluctantly bear. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 956 ✭✭✭internelligent

This is ridiculous nonsense lads and it's pretty obvious to those speaking it too. Maybe, for the sake of the thread just agree to disagree and move on? Arguing semantics for a stupid amount of time.
Also, someone who can never admit they were wrong, even just a little bit, when it's been quite a lot, maybe shouldn't be engaged with.

Its quite sad the way Man Utd fans are acting regarding Liverpool.

Suppose the majority of them wont be still big Utd fans if the bad times continue for a few more years.
