Uniteds last home game of the season is West Ham. Big Fel and Moyes returning to put the final nail in our top 4 chances. That could be the tipping point! :pac:

Moyes and Fellani. Good to see he's evolving as a manager.

In fairness he probably played his best football under Moyes at Everton.

Woodward promised us Fabrecas and got us Fellani for a few million more then he would of cost 2 months previous to him signing. Fellaini has probably been one of Woodward's better signings aswell....

I didn't watch a lot of Fellini at Utd but don't believe he was bad for them. He just wasn't a "Utd player" at a time when that phrase meant something entirely different to what it does now.

Arguably one the best signings since Fergie he does nothing flash but scored some important goals especially when winning the Europa league

It is now mathematically impossible for Liverpool to be relegated this season. After 20 games.

Fellaini scored United's only goal at Old Trafford in the Champions League last season, out of 5 played. A 91st minute winner against Young Boys, which meant they qualified out of the group. Possibly the biggest goal of United's season.

Son was superb in Kane's absence last season.

This could go one of two ways IMO; it could be a repeat of that with Son doing well, Alli excelling through the centre, etc., or it could be a disaster because, as José acknowledged himself, his system doesn't function as well without a target man up front.

I know Kane isn't just a target man but his hold up play is excellent and it can bring others into the attack. That won't work as well with Son up there.

If it's an April return for Kane, it might be wise to delve into the transfer market. What's Llorente doing these days? He wasn't a bad alternative. Or Dzeko? Giroud?

I'd take Dzeko in a flash, but going by his comments two days ago he's staying put at Roma(and turned down Inter in the summer). Giroud? Would that make him one of the few to travel between the Emirates, Stamford Bridge and WHL?
I think Kane is off next summer regardless so it's imperative they get quality in, an in form Piatek would be brilliant. Unfortunately I think Jose's days of getting the best out of players individually is long gone.

Where do you think kane will go? I think he will stay there for his entire career. Seems happy enough, is the main man and levy wouldnt sell for less than 150m

I don' think it is since all 19 teams can still get more points than the 58 Liverpool currently have.

Norwich at the bottom can still get 65 points if they win all remaining games while Watford and Bournemouth can get 70 & 71 points. That is of course if Liverpool lose all remaining games

Not all are the same time, individually they could

17 teams below Liverpool would all need to reach 58pts, that isn't possible with the combination of games remaining

He should be well in the running for Player of the Year, not just the young award.

Absolutely smashing player. Pleasure to watch and just keeps getting better.

Could be rushing him back early and risking further injury.

Looks like it wasnt much of an injury in the first place if he is already back training

The way some people are going on, you’d nearly swear it was impossible for them to finish 2nd!

If they draw with Spurs, ManU, Chelsea (all of which would usually be seen as decent results) and lose to City, that would be 9 points gone very easily and the title race would be back on bigtime.

City getting Laporte back will tighten them up at the back, maybe Sane back too to add even more to their attack. Capable of going on a massive winning streak.

How do you know who they were watching? Do you have a contact in the club

Why would Ferandes join United? Surely be a list of much better options for his signature.

Havent seen much of him but if there was a list of teams after him there wasnt much in the summer.

He would immediately double his wages if he joined utd and it is still one of the biggest clubs in the world

It's what many of us in the Liverpool thread have been saying for f*cking weeks and we keep getting told off for it!

Hopefully by the time Liverpool play Chelsea the league will be over considering it is their 2nd last game, but most people going on about Liverpool having the league won are non Liverpool fans with Liverpool fans saying what you're saying and being told to wise up. Some then talk about not being relegated they are being told to wise up the league is not won.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/10/tottenham-have-blame-another-predictable-harry-kane-injury/

This is a good piece in the Telegraph about the Kane situation and the frankly ludicrous workload he has.

    Among the standout stats...
Kane started and completed all but 2 of Spurs' 20 PL games (pre-Southampton game). He missed the Everton game through illness and was subbed off with 5 minutes to play in a 4-0 win over Palace (all 4 goals were scored in the first half). He played every minute of the CL campaign, bar the dead rubber against Bayern.

Since the start of last season, he has been subbed off just 6 times in 47 games. He completed 87.23% of his games.

    In comparison, Aubameyang completed 76%, Vardy 75%, Sterling 72%, Mane 71%, Salah 59%, Jimenez 55%, Rashford 55%, Wood 50%, Barnes 48%, Martial 46%, Firmino 44%, Son 44%, Aguero 31% and Ings 25%.

As is pointed out in the piece, Chelsea play one striker and have 2 back ups in the squad. Liverpool manage to keep Origi happy as an alternative, Aguero/Jesus rotate, Leicester have Iheanacho to back up Vardy...

Spurs should have an alternative. They might have to over pay for it (€100k+ per week) but it might avoid the frequent injuries that Kane is getting. How many seasons in a row has he missed a large spell due to these injuries? Frankly, looking at those completion stats, it's no surprise to see him frequently pick up injuries.

There were plenty of rumours of him leaving last summer but he decided to stay.

At the time I think it was reported he was staying because lots of the senior players were leaving after the fan attack in 2018 had caused problems. He originally cancelled his contract but signed on again after that.

He only signed another new contract in October to increase his wages to around €80k (rumoured figure) and increase his buyout clause.

He could double his money at plenty of clubs. But he could also work with top class coaches, play in teams challenging for trophies and play for a club with a clear defined structure. All things United can't offer.

Where exactly do you think he could play (be a starter every week) and also double his wages to 160k a week. Utd offer that, not too many other clubs do

There was one of the away games over the Xmas, he wasn't replaced, even though he was clearly fvcked for the last 15/20 mins, and started the next game.

I referred to it at the time, and no surprise he picked up an injury. They say though Harry likes to rack up the minutes, and the goals, to puff up the stats, rather than sharing the load.

Liverpool are obviously very odds on as it stands, but if they win the next 3 games there is pretty close enough to zero doubt then. The best teams can have wobbles and it can do funny things to players heads. It very likely won't happen, but it's not impossible.

If liverpool finish January 16 points clear, I'll start saying its done as the run after that until April is pretty kind in the league.

So the only thing United can offer is a starting spot and money. Not much incentive for a professional player really.

David Silva and Sane are most likey going at the end of the season. City could offer him more starts in a year than United because realistically they'll go further in all the competitions even if he's not starting every game. He'll also get to play for a world class manager, for a club with a plan, a place where players improve and a challenge for trophies.

Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves, and Leicester could all offer him a starting spot and big wages.

He'd also get to play plenty of games for the likes of Liverpool, Real, Barca, Bayern, PSG, Dortmund, Juve, Inter. They'd increase his salary, all have a better coach than United and challenge for trophies.

Which is why United are in the mess they are with players joining for a wage rise

What has he done to justify getting wages like that?

Are Salah and Mane even on 160k per week?

More money is not an incentive?

Id say majority of footballers are in the game for the money. Make as much money before they retire and fair play to them

Clubs that want to win things tend not to want players that are just looking for a huge salary.

Sure why go to United then when they can go to China?

Money is an aspect of the game everyone knows that, but if a player has that has his priority I wouldn't want him.
