Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Slow no replays made that look like a totally different challenge, good decision

Spurs still being dirty when they are loosing then.

That's an absolutely mad decision, VAR isn't working because there are idiots checking it, the mics really should be live to hear the reasoning

Cos the ref couldn’t bother his hole looking at the monitor. Anyone who sees a replay of that gives a red.

In fairness none of the refs in the PL have been checking the pitch side monitor. Are there even any there? They just go by what the lads in the VAR control room decide.

Not anyone obviously, the referee in the control room said no. Why slow it down even more by having the referee at the game go over to the screen and look at it if another equally qualified referee looks at it?

That said, and I've said this before, the overall standard and decision making of English referees is shocking.

That VAR ref is doing the Leicester / City game tonight

Yeah there are VAR monitors at the side of the pitch in all the premier league grounds. As far as I know the referees were encouraged a couple of weeks ago to start checking the monitors themselves, but have failed to do so.

    Red card all day long.

VAR again being shown up to be a joke!

    This guff again...

    VAR isn't the problem - It's the referees/decision makers.

    ....are you serious?

I'm going to take a wild guess at you being a Spurs fan?

Or a closet Spurs fan at worst!

That is definitely intentional. He cleary puts more force into the stamp.

Your off your rocker here. That's as clear a red as you'll see all year.

Official verdict was that the spurs player had nowhere to put his foot, I kinda agree but the force he used was excessive

He could have kept his leg up and not put it to the ground at all or moved his leg about a foot forward and he would have had plenty of places to put his foot.

So they're saying it wasn't a red because it wasn't a clear and obvious error made by the on field referee.

So basically VAR can only rescind cards when theres an error by the ref, and not award one when he misses it / ignores it.

Did he have a look himself? That's what they're supposed to do right?

I don't understand why a VAR ref can't make a decision in a vacuum completely ignoring what the on field decision was. Just make the right call.

They have just admitted it should’ve been a red. Embarrassing stuff.

Stockley Park now saying they got it wrong

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Are Stockley Park a parody now?

Admitting it should have been a red half an hour later.

So the VAR of the VAR said it was wrong decision?

An absolute embarrassment for all involved. Amateur stuff here.

Can the ref walk over and give him a red now or does he get a ban? This is a bit mad!!

The R in VAR stands for Referee so yes it is a fcuking joke!

Stop will you. You know exactly what I meant.

The video system is fine and even was used correctly.

It's the guys making the decision are getting it wrong (ie, Michael Oliver & Stockley Park advising him)

And you know most people calling VAR a joke know its the human error part of VAR that is a joke.

VAR is an all encompassing term and it is a joke.

They now admit they made an error.

Did Jose just ignore Frank there and walk down the tunnel with shaking hands.

    Classy as always.

A fair bit of fawning over Lampard on BT.

Not convinced by him and what he's doing to be honest. Might turn out to be a good coach, but seems to be lurching from one great display to another, with several mediocre ones in between. Hasn't really developed an identity yet, doesn't really seem to know his best XI yet of his preferred way of playing. Giroud in today, does well, but you know within a week he'll be out of favour again and Tammy will be falling over himself again and missing easy chances.

Who’d have imagined human error in the application of VAR, except everyone with more than two brain cells

Nobody disputed there would be some human error. However it should be a reduction given the extra footage and replays.

VAR got it wrong, but those with an agenda against VAR (even before it was put into use) are blowing their lid on this.
Remove VAR, and it still wouldn't have been a red, cause the on-field ref didn't give it. Then you'd have the same people moaning about the ref.
Some people just like to have a moan no matter what.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 333 ✭✭Martin Tyler AgueroooOO

Here comes Mr VAR to explain it all to all of Boards why var is right even when var is wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,640 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Will Smallbone, under age Ireland international, starting for Southampton today. Doing well enough too.

You seem to love moaning about the moaning.

The implementation of VAR has been shambolic and no amount of infantile comments trying to defend it will wash.

Good lord, Bournemouth goal chalked off due to handball at the other end. peno awarded.

Who'd be a footballer? They'll all be in therapy

Burnley score 2-0 instead of 1-1

Watched it, absolutely mad, the handball wasn't even clear cut, hit Tim just under the shoulder, has the rules changed about handball recently?

Blatant hand ball ,hand to ball to be precise by kdb in the box .. nothing ..lol..I don't care if he's defending himself..it's handball.. he actually turns away from the ball too.

That's a penalty if it was the other way the Leicester player would be booked
