That's an absolutely mad decision, VAR isn't working because there are idiots checking it, the mics really should be live to hear the reasoning

In fairness none of the refs in the PL have been checking the pitch side monitor. Are there even any there? They just go by what the lads in the VAR control room decide.

Not anyone obviously, the referee in the control room said no. Why slow it down even more by having the referee at the game go over to the screen and look at it if another equally qualified referee looks at it?

That said, and I've said this before, the overall standard and decision making of English referees is shocking.

Yeah there are VAR monitors at the side of the pitch in all the premier league grounds. As far as I know the referees were encouraged a couple of weeks ago to start checking the monitors themselves, but have failed to do so.

Official verdict was that the spurs player had nowhere to put his foot, I kinda agree but the force he used was excessive

He could have kept his leg up and not put it to the ground at all or moved his leg about a foot forward and he would have had plenty of places to put his foot.

So basically VAR can only rescind cards when theres an error by the ref, and not award one when he misses it / ignores it.

Did he have a look himself? That's what they're supposed to do right?

I don't understand why a VAR ref can't make a decision in a vacuum completely ignoring what the on field decision was. Just make the right call.

The video system is fine and even was used correctly.

It's the guys making the decision are getting it wrong (ie, Michael Oliver & Stockley Park advising him)

And you know most people calling VAR a joke know its the human error part of VAR that is a joke.

VAR is an all encompassing term and it is a joke.

They now admit they made an error.

A fair bit of fawning over Lampard on BT.

Not convinced by him and what he's doing to be honest. Might turn out to be a good coach, but seems to be lurching from one great display to another, with several mediocre ones in between. Hasn't really developed an identity yet, doesn't really seem to know his best XI yet of his preferred way of playing. Giroud in today, does well, but you know within a week he'll be out of favour again and Tammy will be falling over himself again and missing easy chances.

Nobody disputed there would be some human error. However it should be a reduction given the extra footage and replays.

VAR got it wrong, but those with an agenda against VAR (even before it was put into use) are blowing their lid on this.
Remove VAR, and it still wouldn't have been a red, cause the on-field ref didn't give it. Then you'd have the same people moaning about the ref.
Some people just like to have a moan no matter what.

Watched it, absolutely mad, the handball wasn't even clear cut, hit Tim just under the shoulder, has the rules changed about handball recently?
