Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some goal by Wolves for the third. Jota with lovely skill to leave Moura (I think) for dead.

AWB looks lost once he crosses the half way line.

    VARRED?

For the guy flat out on the ground? He's hardly interfering with play?

    How did he interfer?

Absolute joke of a decision. Varchester United strike again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 532 ✭✭✭Spideog Rua

    How did he interfer?

You saw him move his legs out of the way of the ball, no? That's interfering

What? That's like saying when a player moves out of the way down the wing to let an inside player run he's actually interfering. He wasn't interfering with keepers Vision and he didn't touch it.

    Wolverhampton Wanderers win. Ancelotti carded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

De Gea wasn't stopping that so goal should have stood.

Man Utd & Man City pressuring officials is starting to work. Both getting all the VAR calls recently

A worry for the rest of the league seems you put pressure on the referee you get decisions in your favour.

Hes offside, a yard in front of goal and in the way of the keeper. Its the definition of interference

    Manchestvar United. Saved again.

Repeating what you say doesn't make it fact.

United very lucky, didn't touch the ball or insight Dé Gea at all

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭MurDawg

People on here saying that's a travesty need to learn the rules...

    Christ even Carragher agrees

Here's whats been ruled out. AWB creams him with a tackle and he's sitting on the ground. In no way is he interfering with the goal keeper. Moves his feet out of the way so as not to touch the ball.

One of the oddest decisions I've seen this season.

Edit: can it be offside when it comes off Maguire and changes the direction of the ball even? I didn't notice that first time.

Everton robbed by var which once again goes utds way, keeper was looking at the ball the whole time, the deflection off Maguire just caught him out..robbery

It seems to have escaped you that the ref didnt make the VSR decision...carry on

Thought once a defender played it, then it’s a new phase? Isn’t that what everyone said when Lovren deflected a ball to Kane 2 seasons ago? VAR official doesn’t know the rules.

    United were blessed.

Damn straight he was offside and interfering, even if it didn't touch him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,561 ✭✭✭Umaro

If he's not there then De Gea still isn't getting to that ball.

    Very lucky decision for Utd.

VAR been Man Utd's best signing this year.
Most penalties,No red cards(Maguire) & ruled out goals & let foul players as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,338 ✭✭✭Ardent

Wow. I'm a neutral and that VAR decision makes me so angry. Common sense allows that goal - Sigurdson's "involvement" was immaterial as De Gea was already going the wrong way.

    Very lucky decision for Utd.

    But.... he is there

How is that a lucky decision

By that logic if he's not there Maguire might be lined up differently

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,510 ✭✭✭✭noodler

People are staying he was level, which I couldn't see in the replays.

But if he wasn't then I personally think he was interfering.

If you are the keeper, you have this lump luring on the ground 3 yards from you. The range of possibilities are endless and he knows he has to change his reaction if there is any ricochet of him (he can't be assuming offside).

In addition, it looked, right until the last second, that ball would hit Sigurdson and DDG can fairly argue imo that that additional variable interfered.

Ball came off Maguire as well which changes the direction.

Wolves big chance to make top 4

Wolves & Leicester in the top 4 would be incredible

He actually had to lift his legs because the ball would of hit him because he was interfering with the trajectory of the ball towards goal. Sure how can a keeper anticipate a person on front of them (interfering) taking one action or another ?

In the grand scheme of things does it really matter, 1 point isnt going make much difference to utd or everton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭jamescd

There's no way that's interference. Sigurdsson was sitting on the ground, De Gea was standing up so he can clearly see over the top of him. No way the lad is blocking his sight. He could see the deflection but he was already moving the other way so that's why he couldn't react in time. Nothing to do with Sigurdsson.

De Gea moves to his right to save the initial shot. The Maguire deflection wrong foots him nothing to do with the player on the ground.

It was VAR actually working correctly. Striker even moves his feet out of the way. If it doesn't move them the ball is going to hit him

Very emotional moment for some given it happened last minute

They are gutted it wasn't allowed I'd say

Someone good with Photoshop should shrink De Gea down to a foot tall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,037 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

We have seen plenty of goals given where the attacker is in an offside position has moved out of the way from a shot and it's been given, so I dont see how him moving out of the way has affected the decision.

He was excellent all game defending set pieces.
