Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

  • He was excellent all game defending set pieces.

Your sound logic is not welcome here

    Is he?

Hardly the worst player on the pitch today.

    Strange to single him out.

You clearly havent seen much of him playing so

Also, is there a reason why there wasn't a penalty given to Siggy as he shot in the last second? He was cleaned out as he shot.

He obviously only seen that clip. Thankfully you can't sit down offside right in front of the goalkeeper, not sure why this point is hard for so many to understand.

By sit down you mean fouled :)

I can't believe the usuals are saying this wasn't interfering with play

Also surprised at the Spurs result

DDG can see the ball clearly. So based on your still image, how is he interfering?

  • In fairness Ancellotti has Everton playing well

I'd fancy them getting results against Chelsea and Liverpool going on what I watched today

Direct football and Sigurdsson is a tidy player to have on cross and set piece delivery

As for us, Oles Utd failing to capitalize again when presented an opportunity should not come as a surprise to anyone watching them week in week out this season

Bruno and Fred played well again tbf, as did Maguire to his credit. Some very important clearances in the second half given Evertons threat in the air

Martial had one of his usual performances when team is under pressure

How exactly is he interfering? He's not blocking the keepers view of the ball and he's not impeding his movement.

Is he interfering if he moves his feet out of the way so the ball can go into the net?

What happens to the ball if he doesn't move his feet?

    Watch it and ask yourself

DDG can see the ball clearly. So based on your still image, how is he interfering?

He is in an offside position right in front of the goalkeeper, even if he can see the ball he is still active.

He then also has to move his leg out of the way from blocking the ball so becomes even more active.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,037 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

The official line is he is obstructing the keepers line of vision, so this decision makes no sense for me.

But that's the thing, avoiding the ball is considered not interfering. How many times does a player run by a defender(in an offside positon) to let the onside player run onto the ball? It's never offside because it's considered not interfering.

As far as I know interfering was always interacting with the keepers vision and or touching the ball.

If he doesn't move his feet the ball hits him and he becomes active.

Maguire also changes the angle of the ball so does that not now make him onside?

That table is good for people who don't k ow their numbers well, I can see why it attracts a lot of praise.

This all would have been avoided if the Ref just gave the penalty that should have been anyway

Maybe there should be a table of letters for you so you don't forget one.

I didn't see it so cant comment but the officiating in general was ****e all game IMO

Both Utd and Everton were on the end of some terrible decisions

But United have gained a point and Everton lost two because of that poor officiating.

Everton can feel hard done by today.

Wan B after Siggy shot cleaned him out so it's a late tackle. No idea why Everton weren't screaming for the pen

    No they haven't

    Utd dominated the first half

    Everton played well the second

    The result was fair

I assume he doesn't get the pen because he gets the shot away.

Yeh I assume so is that a Law? It makes no sense. Essentially saying if player X shoots kicking player X afterwards is allowed

Don't see how it's any different to a player passing the ball

United scored one goal. Everton scored two goals and had one wrongly disallowed.

Yeah one of those similar to players not getting penos for being honest and staying up.

Honestly I’d say you are in the minority if you think that goal was incorrectly ruled out.

Whatever about Shane’s point about a potential peno, it’s offside everyday of the week.

I don't know how it's great for me? That makes no sense at all in the context of the discussion.

Look I know emotions are running high seeing as your team have snatched a point at the death but if that happened to United you'd be disgusted with the ref.

    My names not Shane :(

Unless de gea is only 2 foot tall his viewed can't be blocked. He's already going the other way so was never saving it. Awful call

Just heard the Everton second was the first ever own goal ruled out for offside in the Prem

It was disallowed because he obstructed his line of sight, has anyone that's not a utd fan said it was correctly ruled out.

Not sure if it would have went down as OG as it was originally on target?

You can't sit down three yards in front of the keeper when you're offside. Baffled anyone thinks that should stand

I'd say some are knocking a bit of craic out of it at this stage

Shot was going wide ré watch it

Looks like it might miss the far post but if Maguire doesn't touch it I think AWB is clearing it anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Re watch the goal, The shot was deflected off shaw "hard to see" and was going wide then hit Maguire,
So it would have been an own goal
You can't be offside i this case, Refs have a video replay and still miss it total joke

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,116 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

Most throw some lads in front of the keeper from now on, have a seat and you're never offside.

Once he can see the ball go ahead. Probably not a great tactic :)

Villa probably would have been better off playing Sheffield Utd yesterday and forgetting the Carabao Cup existed.
