Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Samatta scored again, hopefully he keeps that up to cement a permanent move there.

Think that was set already, thought it was a loan with an obligation to buy

I'd be stunned if Grealish ever becomes a manager!
Why? He has great game intelligence and has shown real leadership skills as captain. I'm not saying he has that kind of Steven Gerrard thing about him where you just knew it was what he was gonna do, but I think it is a realistic prospect.

His off field antics suggest he's not the most mature.
That video off him drunk, driving the jeep and reversing into parked cars, tailgating while doing 98 mph on the motorway, breaking lockdown in March.
I understand he's only 25 but enough there to say management is not for him.

Really difficult to predict anyway, I mean I'd always of thought Carragher and Neville would be managers, Shearer too, they all preferred the punditry instead.
Whereas I'd not of thought Rooney would be a manager.

Have a look at Lampard’s off the field antics. Gerrard had his stories too. And as you mentioned Rooney, and Terry probably next.

I'd say he doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the toolbox anytime ive seen him speak football or non football.

That's why I can't see it for him

FA have instructed referees to not use the interpretation of the offside rule that we got done by against City. Bit late now for us. The annoying part is only 1 person would have questioned it if the ref called it an offside and that would have been Robbie Savage...and who cares what he thinks.

Just seen Burnley have had a 5 million pound bid for Nathan Collins (Stoke City) rejected. So you would guess he will be sold for maybe 9/10 million perhaps?

We really should be in for him as i think it would be a very shrewd bit of business. We need the backup anyway and when they knocked us out of the League cup earlier this year i thought he was outstanding at center back and only being 19 years of age. He has the potential to be a really good defender and leader.

Sanson officially announced great to see hopefully a center back to follow for Mings....

The 'Doc' has passed away. Dr. Jozef Venglos died today at age 84. He was the first foreign manager in the top flight when Villa appointed him in 1990.

Im going 0-0 Burnley are tough to breakdown and 3 games in 7 day, prep for travelling almost the lenght of the country for Southampton on Saturday, I dont think we'll be 100%.

A draw isnt the end of the world , win would be fantastic. Wont be easy game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Few goals.
Could be a set piece that wins it.
Hope Ben Mee behaves himself and doesn't break anyone's leg today.

Any win is a good result. Burnley aren't great but tight defensively.
They haven't conceded more than one goal in a game since November.

McGinn back in, otherwise same as.

I'm going 7-0 all Grealish, mostly as I captained him in FF

    3- 1 Villa

    Ollie two, Barkley one

I hate watching us play a team in claret & Blue . . . It’s like VAR you have to stop and check before celebrating

    Super poachers finish from Watkins

Really good finish from Ollie, the way he angled his foot to put it in the corner.

Playing some great stuff here, more brilliant play between Jack and Targett there to set up shot for Traore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

Barklet off crossbar after Watkins denied 1 v 1 .... so unlucky

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

Watkins great run but fudged the first touch so didn’t get the ball out of his feet for the one on one. Then Barkley off the crossbar.

Also 2 good chances from the next corner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

And now Mings has goal cleared off line.

Jaysus when they get going Villa are 100% Brazil at times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

And now Targett with a chance

All of those were potential Grealish assists...... my poor FF team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

What a team we have become.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Great performance so far, 2nd goal all that's missing. Jack has run the show with Barkley, Targett and Traore all impressively involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

Really good first half, so positive. Could easily be 3 up.
Really want a second goal as there will be a time in the second half where we come under pressure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,030 ✭✭✭pavb2

Really need to make it count and get all 3 points

Sanson will be wondering how he's supposed to break into this side.

This is the Villa team i have enjoyed the most in my life watching.

Playing brilliant but these are leaving the foot in all over the pitch. Id be surprised if we don't pick up a knock to rule someone out of the next game. Ref needs to be stronger and start dishing the yellows out quickly on the second half.

I can see him getting Barkleys spot on occasion against the better teams.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,843 ✭✭✭Panrich

We should be out of sight. Hopefully this won't come back to bite us in the second half. We're really looking very sharp so far though.

    Awful defending from the corner

Of all the players (im being polite) to score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

    Bollox, no one near him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

    Feeeck, so easy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Barkley lost him there it looked like, didn't follow in at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Absolutely pathetic defending.

Time for changes, we just haven't turned up in this half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

Swagger of 1st half is gone, Burnley getting stuck in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

That could have been a goal of the season contender if Grealish finished it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

    WHAT A SAVE!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

We were cut open way too easy though

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,843 ✭✭✭Panrich

    Grealish!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,554 ✭✭✭LeBash

Good goal, Grealish deserved that for how he's outplayed everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

    GREALISH!!!! Oh captain my Captain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Great can pull out a goal like that when under pressure and struggled a bit this half. Just a few passes to go right and open them up beautifully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

Need to make a change now though I think, Barkley is fading out - bring on Davis, Maybe Trez for Traore
