Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My only slight concern here is they are constantly looking for the killer pass / move and it's leaving themselves wide open at times.

    Left back is struggling.

Great goals and some fabulous skills and individual performances.

    **Game over now!

It was a great game. They were certainly open at the back alright. Great going forward though.

Villa could have scored 8 in the end.

And thats without Aaron Ramsey who had been scoring for fun recently.

They play Liverpool in the final now, which will be on BT sports again i would guess.

Elmo, ramsey and Watkins start. Grealish still on bench

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

Is Hause starting too with McGinn captain?

Hause aswell, who IMO isn’t THAT much of a step down from Mings.

There was a point in the season I would have been screaming for Hause instead of Mings.

I think they’ve mostly the same strengths and weaknesses but where Mings stands out above him is his comfort on the ball. Mings is better. It’s not by as much as you’d want given Mings has recent England caps etc. but...

Mings also has a couple of big errors a game.

    Captain McGinn scores :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

Well deserved we could have had 2 or 3 so far.

We're playing like Brazil out there- could have 4 instead of the 1.

Hause is a bigger threat than Davis ever was in the box

McGinn is coming back to form. He's an absolute hero when he's at his best

I think they differ a lot.

Hause is better in the air for me, doesn't over commit when defending a high line, more old school type, not great on the ball, not much pace, not vocal, strong as an ox.

Mings is the opposite of that.

Have been really impressed with Hause the handful of games he's played this season. He's been unlucky with injury.

Hard to be mad at him....

We sat back too much since we scored and let them back in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

Absolutely. We were tearing them apart, scored and switched off

This, and we've given the ball away cheaply several times.

    What a cool finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

And now back in front. AEG!

    9 PL goals for him.

    And then switched on again.....

He wants to go to Euros, doesn't he. Be mad if El Ghazi was in Dutch team, considering how inconsistent he is for us. Has been very good today though

    Absolutely cannot stand Zaha.

You'd be hard pressed to show AEG the exit door after 9 PL goals. With Trez injured AEG may well be kept on.
Can't see Traore leaving either, with Barkley leaving, I'd send Ramsey out on loan to make room for new signings.

I don't think there is any chance of AEG or Traore leaving despite the frustration they can cause, barring a random big money bid from somewhere.

The pair of them would be great options from the bench, 2 quite unpredictable players.

Would have kept AEG even if Trez wasn't injured, as inconsistent as he is there's more attacking wise to his game than Trez's. The injury he had is really unlucky but he wouldn't have been near a starter for me going into next season. Have to admire El Ghazi's enthusiasm always to do better since the Championship and to be honest he's achieving it.

McGinn great again, he has his poor spells but still such an asset when he's on it. I think positioning for him makes a big difference in certain games. Bar Jack, no one protects possession better than him.

I like McGinn. He often doesn't really hold the ball and just plays the passes, his stats are always a bit odd but he has a function within the team. He never stops moving and his passing is very accurate, he basically passed the ball into the net for that goal.

    Are mings and cash injured?
    I missed everton game

    Not now.

Until the Trez injury, he was a gonner and so was AEG.
AEG has since added goals since then, despite not influencing games or doing much else.

Not sure are either the type to impact the game off the bench.

    Hopefully Jack gets 30 mins.

Cash looked to have injured his hamstring, he went off.
Mings picked up a knock in the game but played on.

Where are getting that he was a gonner? Villa don't spend £17 million just to move the player on after a season.

John McGinn to see red in this game I predict.

I'm taking about AEG being a gonner sorry.

Traore was always gonna get more time.

Traore is worst player on the pitch , like playing with 10 men when hes off form

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

Bring on Jack before we concede FFS

We need to score to try and kill this one.

Jack coming on to do just that.

    He's an absolute spacer.
Wearing gloves in the middle of the day 2 weeks before June just sums up the attitude of the guy.

No bit of guts or fight in him.

We really look like conceding again.

Fully deserved, we've been dreadful second half.

AEG scores one and continues to shoot from anywhere every time he gets the ball since.

    Ramsey ineffective today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

    Empty the bench

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

We have nothing to lose for the season, just use the subs!
