    Great finish from Ings.

4 now, could have been 8. Might still be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

    4 now. Ings

I was expecting a tough game, even a loss

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭Patser

And that's a physics defyling save be Martinez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭Patser

Still we can't make it look comfortable - Soton ould have had 3 easily there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Some changes would be nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Bailey replaces Ramsey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

Scoring 4 and keeping a clean sheet is a brilliant result, Coutinhos magic the difference.

Hopefully nothing too serious with Konsa and Digne, I didn't hear why they are missing.

    Archer scored again for Preston.

Should be aiming to finish top 10, currently 7 points behind Wolves in 8th. So that is probably out of reach barring some great form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,043 ✭✭✭remoteboy

Would be nice to see us put a bit of a run together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Shame we got so little again the poor teams we just played , few hard games in next few fixtures.

Coutinhos is prob one of the best players to have played for us ever if he stays fit on todays form , if we can keep him after the summer it would be huge.

Next 3 games are away to Leeds, away to West Hay, home to Arsenal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,037 ✭✭✭pavb2

The thing about today was that it was a very measured performance, we managed and were in control of the game almost from kick off.

A win against Leeds Thursday would really push us on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,043 ✭✭✭remoteboy

Digne back. Chambers keeps his place. Konsa benched.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Did that pass for the goal keep chambers his place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

It certainly did him no harm! If Coutinho did it we'd be still raving about it. In fairness to Chambers he didn't put a foot wrong in defence so the place is his until he makes a mistake I guess.

I think we'll beat West Ham next game, they've had a tough run of it with FA cup and Europa cup this evening, small enough squad, same players playing most games.

No harm for Konsa to know he’s got competition for the place. He might ease back on the red cards.

Coutinho scores, another assist from Cash.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

All over the place second half, Leeds with more of the ball. I think it suits us to invite Leeds on then hit them on the counter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Matty Cash 2 - 0

Nice pass from Ings to pick him out. Great finish by the Polish Cafu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,797 ✭✭✭✭JPA

This is rather delicious. Beauty from Chambers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

Sanson on for Ings with 20 mins left.

Coutinho is just class, his movement off the ball is unreal.

    Chambers just scored a belter! 3 - 0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭Patser

    Jesus Chambers!!

After the pass last weekend... that finish. Is he another Brazilian in disguise

Coutinho is unsurprisingly on another planet. The ball just sticks to him even when it looks lost.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭Patser

Leeds are shattered. Remember first 30 minutes, chasing Villa everywhere, in hard all the time. Now it's Villa lads strolling around with ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

Brilliant result, 3 clean sheets in a row.

Gerrard seems to have found a way of getting Ings,Watkins and Coutinho into the side and performing.

Cash has been excellent recently too.

Should be looking to beat West Ham away on Sunday.

Great win in the end. Another clean sheet and we were on top for all but the first 10 minutes of the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,043 ✭✭✭remoteboy

    Delighted with that.

Just wish we were closer to Wolves so we could look to move up the table with another win or two. It’s not quite as exciting when we’ll likely stay rooted to 9th no matter what

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Coutinho is a joy to watch , enjoy him while you can because part of me thinks how the hell can will pull off sign him with his wages.

Great win , cash starting to look the part again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,037 ✭✭✭pavb2

For me the most satisfying win since we beat Reading away to break that winless away streak. We look so well organised and everything seems to be falling into place with Coutinho pulling the strings. Cash was inspired even before his goal and Chambers who does the basics so well has had an immediate impact.

Even when they came at us at the beginning of the second half we looked composed when we defended whereas before it would have been panic stations. We’ve had some disappointing performances (Newcastle just over 3 weeks ago) and false dawns over the past few years we’ve just got to enjoy the moment.

Same team of what do we expect?

Ings hardly manage 3 games in 7 days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 640 ✭✭✭DBIreland

Ings out for Buendia? Sanson looked alright when he played recently and might earn a run out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

    I'd say Sanson over Ramsey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,364 ✭✭✭OneColdHand

Team unchanged. They might be tired, but West Ham had an away game in Europe midweek, so also likely to be tired. Hard to change a winning team.

    Anybody know a good stream?

The one i have is on mute

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 640 ✭✭✭DBIreland

How have we played in the first half? I see Digne gone off early with a suspected hamstring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Not many clear chances for either team

    Stalemate so far.

Coutinho with plenty of the ball but picking it up way too deep.

West Ham a dirty team as you'd expect from a Moyes team, the ref could be doing more to make this a fairer game.

Neither side have looked like scoring so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

    1 down.

Bailey on for 2 mins and the goal comes from down his side, I thought he could of done more to help out.

Gerrard left it late to make changes. Maybe the Digne injury didn't help.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Hard to see ling term position for bailey or troare in this team , to lazy to defend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Bailey gives away ball for second goal , fell over looking a soft free.

Dont think we will see him again for a while

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

Absolutely, far too casual and selfish individuals both of them.

Bailey loses the ball to concede the second too.

Watkins has looked as sharp as a blunt spoon too, constantly out fought and found on his arse.

Fair play to WH, they deserved the win and are far ahead of us. Felt Gerrard didn't set us up for victory, we weren't aggressive enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Esse85

Brilliant play from Buendia to setup Ramsey to make it 2-1 with a cool finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

We looked like the team that was tired from euro game thursday night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,797 ✭✭✭✭JPA

In hindsight, 1 or 2 changes should have been made to the starting lineup. There was a lack of energy in the team

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,037 ✭✭✭pavb2

It looked like we went there for a draw and only really went on the front foot when we were behind.

Their defence and midfield were strong we couldn’t get through, our passing game wasn’t as free flowing as in previous games.

In fairness West Ham have been hovering round 5th place so tougher opposition than Southampton, Leeds and Brighton. The challenge is to get up to their level.

Buendia is in for Ings, Konsa replaces Chambers.

Young replaces the injured Digne. That LB spot is a real concern.
