Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Iptv

No idea how any of that works. Used to watch the games on Iraqi Goals but thats gone.

If you have an android box, firestix, nividia shield they all run iptv as do numerous other boxes. Than you just need a sub.Prefer the ethenet over wireless as more stable condition.

    Traore starts

    Traore starts

    Bit harsh on Trez

Don’t like that lineup against a team like Southampton, who are better going forward than we are.

    Very eager to be wrong.

I'm eager to see how Traore plays today.

I was the first to criticise him within 10 mins of his debut because I'd watched him show no interest in tracking back, that attitude on your debut really irritated me.

I hope now several weeks on, he's up to speed, knows what's required of him, and puts in a shift.

As poor as Trez is in terms of quality and final ball, I can never question the unselfish shift he regularly contributes for the team.

What's wrong with it? It's about discipline really, McGinn and Barkley have to play their part defensively when required.

I don't know if Traore, McGinn and Barkley are suited to playing their part defensively in their team. I'd have played one of McGinn and Barkley with Nakamba and Trez instead of Traore.

I think our start has given us some delusions of grandeur in terms of our ability to go toe to toe with better attacking teams.

We'll see what happens. Southampton are a good team but they can be cut apart as well. We have to play to our strengths, no point changing our approach at home against the likes of Southampton.

I would have said being solid throughout our team was our strengths though. Thats how we stayed up, by going completely back to basics. When we thought expansive football was our strengths previously, we were getting pumped each week last season.

    Got away with that one.

VAR rules out a Southampton goal.....even I think that's nonsense- one of those offsides by mm with lines being drawn everywhere

I thought this one was fairly visible without the lines.

We had a warning, why put McGinn on a big centre back from a free like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

And we are really, really struggling to break down organised defences. Too slow getting ball forward, and then trying to very intricately play through packed areas

And it was an awful place to give away a free kick.

McGinn is always on the opposition best heading player for whatever reason. He was on VVD in the Liverpool game and in previous games he was on players well over 6 foot plus.

I wasn't sure if its to block the player making a run or what but seems very strange.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Traore isn’t going to be as good a signing as I initially thought

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,843 ✭✭✭Panrich

    Traore down now too.

Maybe, and hopefully, I’m completely wrong, but I don’t know if the passion is there. We need players who can get stuck in and I get the vibe off him that if it’s not going his way from early on, he’ll give up. Obviously I hope I’m wrong because he was a player I was extremely excited about

I agree, I don't fancy him at all, just wondered if we saw the same thing.

Two stupid free kicks we gave away which cost us two goals.

7 goals conceded in 2.5 games now.

Watkins bar his hatrick against liverpool just hasn't been effective.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

For a team that wins so many frees, and has so many good deliverers of set pieces, we really stuck at set pieces - rarely score and are always looking dodgy in defence.

You'd think Mings especially would get 5 or 6 a season given his height and power

I f*cking hate being right in situations like this but McGinn should have been hooked already. Smith back to his old flaws here.

The Southampton manager has schooled Smith in their 3 meetings so far

Concede and collapse again. I'd be happy with the club taking a bit of time to look for a new manager.

I actually think Barkleys signing has unsettled team. He's too like McGinn (probably better), but playing them 2 and Grealish has left Luiz completely isolated as anchor. For all his faults Hourihane at start of season was putting in a shift.

Instead we've Luiz on his own, with Grealish, McGinn, and Barkley all further up pitch looking for someone to get the ball to them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,043 ✭✭✭remoteboy

This is a tough watch. No energy. No shape. Second to every challenge. Just a continuation of the second half against Leeds. Hopefully they’ll wake up a bit in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

It is mad though we're 3 down effectively to 3 free kick, just quality frees on their side each one

  • Registered Users Posts: 293 ✭✭AVFC.Stephen

Southampton like leeds look like a bunch of messi's compare to us. If a team is anyway intense or aggressive it's like we are stumped for ideas

McGinn should not be a starter anymore. Barkley is better than him. Smith has been too weak to drop one of them, and has played an unbalanced side that has been made dirt of.
