Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So with a few snaps coming through it seems as though the variations in font type and use of pressed metal/acrylic will remain with us for some time to come and the new decade has not brought any new consistency to our number plates.
It seemed to me that the 'pressed metal' type was making a comeback (perhaps something do with the environment as the acrylic ones can't be recycled as easily as the metal/aluminum ones as far as I know) but the a newer variant of acrylic appeared with the advent of the 131/2 yearly split with tails on the number 1 (european style) rather than the 'I' font type, similar to the British font variant.
I don't know of any other country that allows different font types or format.
A right mixed bag we have here...

This year isn't too bad but these plates are going to be very messy in 2021 and 2022 - 211,212,221,222. Good luck trying to get those regs right when you giving it for over the phone for insurance etc.
We need 5 characters for the county and year with a couple of million cars in the country. 30 million vehicles in the UK and they've been getting on fine with 7 characters for about 60 years

You'd call them out the 211, 222 etc as if they were a GAA score imo.

Just saw a red Hyundai Tucson 201 RN 10 going through Boyle.

Last time I saw an RN reg was on a 20 year old car.

Fair play to them on spending money down there

There are no shortage of new regs in Roscommon generally. But practically everyone is driving imports. Not as easy to spot when they did away with the different range of reg numbers for imports but there are heaps of Audis/Mercs/BMWs around these parts.

Lower cost of living here so people are generally not paying astronomical mortgages/rent. If they have a decent job they can afford to spend it on a nice car I presume.

We’re picking up in the morning - called this evening to get the reg for changing the insurance and they said the Revenue system was down all morning countrywide so they won’t have it until tomorrow

It was down for an hour this morning. We were picking up a car for my mam and they rang ROS helpline and they said there was an issue with the database. All sorted by 11:30.

201 LD 1 is another flecking Hi-and-dri Tucson - ironically it was bought from a Private Garage (Peter Hanley Motors) instead of the Main Hyundai Dealer (Nally) practically next door :)

Bit of a kick in the hole to the main dealer.
