    Hi,

I'm looking at the possibility of putting together an AIO pc.
    Value of € 600.00 to € 850.00
Online models are very frustrating, you get good screen, poor ram, good ram, poor SSD..
First problem is finding a case supplier ..
In the states it's not a problem, there seems to be lots of suppliers, but I can't find one here. If I get one from the states it's going to be jumped on by the customs and 40% will be added... at least.

It would appear that fitting your own components should make it what you want but for a reasonable price.

This should be built around a 27" min, screen .

Am I wasting my time, or does anyone have any comments / input ??

    Thanks

    Jay

What's it going to be used for? If you don't need a graphics cards, there are it's cases you can mount to the vesa holes in the back of a monitor, hidden away which would be similar. Not sure if there are ones which will take a graphics card though, and probably limited to 65w processors.

Alternatively a small and flat case mounted upside down to the underside of your desk out of the way!

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.

First option is not great because " will take a graphics card though, and probably limited to 65w processors." and
option two again " a small and flat case mounted upside down to the underside of your desk "
However I do appreciate the suggestions, time and effort.

Ideally a AIO case as a start point, but that seems to be the problem.

    Any additional comments are welcome.

    Thanks

    Jay

AIO is generally seen as an OEM product (not for consumers) and therefore not sold in most retail channels.

Also the thermals are bad, in general.
Why do you want to all-in-one?

A mini-ITX/slim mATX/Intel NUC is a good option for small builds.

    Also remember the trinity:
    SMALL | FAST | CHEAP
          >pick 2<

    Hi,

Thanks for the information / advice.
My Problem is that the current AIO is fitted into a premade alcove which cannot be expanded.
It's ventilated but it cannot take up much more space / size.
This is why I was looking for a self build..
I found the likes of " https://www.pcspecialist.ie/aio/VanGuardII-27/ " but this has i3 chip included , and an i5 or i7 , will take it to € 1000.00. any other upgrades will push it higher again.
Ideally I was looking at buying the case and customising it, as they let you do with their Desktops or Laptops.
    Doesn't seem possible. ??

By a lenovo tiny pc m700 etc customise it and then get one of there screens that the pc slots in the back. That will be the closet you will get to an all in one with custom parts.

Yeah OP, you're on the wrong track.

Get a nice 27" monitor, and then stick a small machine on the rear or off to the side - they're as small as 1L in volume (ASUS mini PC, Intel NUC, Zotac Zbox, Gigabyte Brix, ASRock Desk mini, etc.)

What do you want to use it for?

    Hi,

It will be used for everything except gaming....
Work, ( Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, print station etc.. )
    Leisure , ( streaming , watching mp4 etc .. )
    Information ....

Not looking for the fastest thing going, just need a decent speed with a decent screen but will still be worth something in a year or two..
K.O.Kiki.... Thanks for the small box listing, more looking up to do over the week-end.... but at least I'm getting a better idea of what I actually need...
So much for buying an AIO case and fill it up !!!!!!!

    Hi,

    Thanks for the link.
That will do the job !!!!!.

A last question, as I am unfamiliar with Mini / Tiny setups,
what should I be looking for / avoiding , given I'll not need a top gaming layout.
    with a budget of 550.00 / 650.00..

    Thanks

    Jay

First option is not great because " will take a graphics card though, and probably limited to 65w processors."

I think maybe you are dramatically overestimating what you will need also. Something like the Ryzen 3600 is a 65w processor, six core and twelve threads, ideal for heavy video editing, the latest games and number crunching....let alone browsing the web or watching movies or spreadsheets.

Something like this ticks all your boxes, can be difficult in AIO machines to get the right balance as the mix of processor/storage/ram/screen quality is usually skewed badly in cheaper machines. Very powerful, long-lasting processor for your uses, good size SSD + bigger drive for storage, 27" screen.

You could also just buy a 27" monitor and then build a very small desktop to go with it. Or else buy a 2nd hand mini-PC, you can get ultra small form factor Dells, Lenovo, HP, etc that take barely any space or can clip on the back of the monitor/just stand behind it.

eg like this (this is a €200 one and perfectly good for things you've described but you can get more powerful ones for more)

    HI,

then build a very small desktop to go with it.

If I go with this, what ( in your opinion ) would be the best configuration I would need ??

    Thanks

This is one idea that would come to about £430, then buy a half decent 27" monitor. Can be done cheaper with a 3200G instead of 3400G, 8GB ram instead of 16GB, smaller SSD etc. That would bring it to closer to £330 and still be plenty powerful for your needs.

CPU Cooler: (may not be needed, stock cooler probably fit if you take off the shroud)

I'll let you in on a little secret. If your doing basic non gaming PC tasks(like those above), a mid spec dual core machine from 6 years ago would be plodding along right now.
