Seen pictures of some of the wreckage. Wing showing fragmented marks similar to MH-17.

The aircraft was 70 mins delayed possibly due to the activity. Saying that, Iranians hardly incompetent enough to shoot down an airliner by accident. The passenger manefest should tell a lot as it was a full flight.

What a clusterf**k this is from Iran. They better be hoping there is no Americans on that plane.

its one hell of a coincidence if it was an accident

Hhhm, apparently the engine caught fire according to RT:

    https://twitter.com/RT_com/status/1214791875456053251

There are also reports that there was no contact to ATC by the crew, no emergency made etc, it simply vanished off the radar, that does not happen when there's an engine fire, the crew would declare an emergency and start to turn back, in fact an engine fire bringing a plane down within 8 minutes of takeoff is practically unheard of.

Not a chance in hell it's a coincidence. The Iranians come out almost straight away and say technical difficulties they couldn't possible know that so quickly without a proper investigaton. They've screwed up royally.

How could they not know? Pilots do relay emergencies to air traffic control which would of been Tehran Airport.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/01/governments-urge-diplomacy-iran-tensions-escalate-200108041741889.html
Britain condemned Iranian missile attacks on military bases in Iraq that hosted US-led coalition forces including British personnel.

"We condemn this attack on Iraqi military bases hosting Coalition - including British - forces," British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said.

"We urge Iran not to repeat these reckless and dangerous attacks, and instead to pursue urgent de-escalation."
Iraq's military said there were no Iraqi casualties among its forces in Wednesday's 22-missile attack on the two military installations.
The Danish armed forces said in a post on Twitter that No Danish soldiers were injured or killed in Wednesday's missile strike on the Al-Asad air base in Iraq.

So Iran shot a missile at a plane full of Iranian passengers and crew? That’s the working theory here lads? Come on!

Is Boeing not going through the ****s as it is?

Can't imagine another 737 going down will help

The only fact here is there's a plane down, whether it was shot down or a crash is dependent on the source. Can be spun either way.

A number of news agencies including reputable Dubai based are reporting it was accidentally shot down and it ties in with my next comment.

The ADS-B (Automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast) transponder suddenly stopped transmitting at 7,925ft and there was no voice traffic from the plane to ATC or an emergency squawk, that does not happen to a plane which catches fire, to put it a crude way the transponder stops when it explodes either by hitting the ground or in mid air, it stopped 7,925ft in the air.

We will find when Mr Trump wakes up via the twitter machine.

The plane was definitely shot down or brought down deliberately. Odds otherwise are absolutely off the charts.

I suppose the list of possibilities include

    Coincidencel genuine crash
    Iranian missile by mistake
    Iranian missile on purpose
    US missile by mistake
    US missile on purpose
Missile by another entity hoping for war
Missile by another entity hoping to deflect attention from war
Sabotage on ground by some entity
    Terrorism from within plane

    What else is there?

So much for the much-vaunted Iranian military machine.

They shoot a bunch of missles into waste land, but near-ish a base to placate their domestic audience but inadvertently shot down a passanger jet full of civilians.

    Utter humiliation for them.

It was not Iranian crewed and 71 of the 176 were Iranian, there were more Canadian and Europeans on it than Iranians.

Iran is even more of a joke after all of this.

Ukrainian embassy to Iran saying engine failure which conflicts with the videos of a fireball. You can be sure Boeing will go on the warpath given their current predicament.

Would have thought the Ukranians would be more pissed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,005 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Iraqi Military saying no Iraqi casualties, and Ukrainian embassy saying it was an engine failure.

Yes not to cross the us red line as i have been saying with hours, very weak from iran after all that revenge talk.

If there are no deaths ,grand. It will still suit the domestic narrative that they attacked the aggressor in revenge and killed their soldiers.

Loads of Canadians on board. Must be on a tour or something.
    RIP to everyone regardless.

Which shows how weak iran really are,as they have to lie about us casualties.

And no US passengers listed or is that something that they are trying to smooth over behind the scenes.

You forget the audience. It's domestic not international.
They could have caused damage if they wanted to.

The flight data disagrees, air speed and rate of ascent were normal when it suddenly stopped transmitting, that does not happen when there is an engine failure/fire.

It did however have a fast rate of ascent (not unusual for a civilian aircraft) which is similar to that used by military aircraft in an active warzone and it is possible an automated defence system was activated mistaken it for a military aircraft.
