So go on, what is your actual opinion on Trump and his administration's handling of the pandemic?

Yeah but like the WH reporters at the briefings, the question should be asked, and the avoidance of answering tends to be an answer in itself.

You've proved your own bias. You're focusing on "the left's" response to Trump's handling of the pandemic while completely excusing Trump's handling of the pandemic. You're calling out "the left's" response completely judging it on hindsight without acknowledging they in most cases didn't have access to the same information the Trump administration had about how early and how serious it would be.

You're focusing on "the left's" criticisms of Trump, likely to obfuscate and change the direction of conversation away from Trump himself. So go on, what is your actual opinion on Trump and his administration's handling of the pandemic?

Let's apply Aristotelian syllogistic logic. Trump's handling of the crisis has been appalling. Only "the left" are talking about this. Therefore, 'the right' are thick as sh1t.

I have not been ignoring the left's efforts at using the pandemic as a way of taking down Trump.

Have addressed all the latest shameful 'We have him now!' nonsense in the CA & C19 forums.

Why does it have to be the left with you? His own tweets, his own actions/inactions, his own words and behaviour live on screen portray the real Donald Trump. There is no misunderstood political/business genius nor decent human being under attack for his efforts to make the world a better place. What you have are "people" who could be left, right, up, down etc commenting on what is clearly an unfit person to hold any position of power and influence in the world. If you cannot or will not see what is clear to the world at this stage, then there's very little anyone can ever say to change your position.

Well today US has hit a new record; Corona is now the #1 reason for deaths (1970 a day) in USA beating out both cancer (1641 a day) and hearth issues (1774), go Trump...

Jesus he is printing in the trillions and giving it straight to the richest of the rich, its completely shameless. All these companies have spent years borrowing money to buy their own shares and hand it out as dividends and now they're being rewarded with unlimited printer money, the wheels are going to come off sometime.

The overall death toll has exceeded the 12 months of swine flu under Obama which Trump was always quick to bring up in his defense

Because you pick a side and support it no matter what, his supporters think it’s sport and nothing matters but the win and bragging rights.

Surgeon General Jerome Adams centering in on the African-American sector of the U.S population - stay 6 foot away from other people if you're out, and wear a mask if you're less than 6 foot away from others then, care for your mom and pop. The part of the U.S population which [according to stats] seems to have a greater chance of getting the virus than other parts of the population though its not a larger percentage part of it generally, except [it seems] for the social housing factor. It should be interesting to see if Don makes his usual comment about the wearing of masks as a way of preventing the spread of the virus.

Reporter: what do you say about the report from Homeland security about a spike in the virus if the stay at home rule is relaxed.. Don: I haven't seen that, they must have leaked it to you as you're from....

There you have it folks, the clear and utter difference of opinion between the president and his staff when it comes to the future of the U.S and its people. The Admiral cares for their health and Don doesn't give a damn about it.

Piffle. 18 million new unemployment claims as of last week. Record demand at food banks. Hospitals bursting at the seams, more people dead due to Corona than 9/11, Swine Flu, or 'normal' daily causes of death. Economy on lockdown till June *at the earliest* and even then, it'll slowly come back. Be lucky if the unemployment claims return to 'normal' levels by December.

He'll be lucky to do as well as Mondale v. Reagan when Biden annihilates him in the Fall.

That's your basis for a world leader? He can manage to act vaguely human for a bit?

It’s enough to win the vote of Americans

    And yet, Quinnipiac say otherwise...

Trump knows Q2 is when the election is decided. That's why he's worried.
Trying to get the US back to 'normal economically', despite the medical risk.

All about the economy. Americans clearly showed last time around that enough of them are prepared to hold their nose and vote for whoever if they feel the country isn't working for them.

Virtually every leader across the world has enjoyed a bump from this. Trump has had among the lowest, and he's also showing a relatively low bump relative to previous US presidents during crises.

I really wouldn't pay any heed to polls until we're in a position to see enough of the consequences.

Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and a few other states may well have a serious deterioration ahead of them, and then perhaps we'll begin to see the reality of the situation dawn on some of the moderates and floating voters who've given Trump his polling bump.

He is destroying the journalists in these briefings and he will destroy Biden in a debate

  • Registered Users Posts: 358 ✭✭Caegan

Standing there ranting is not destroying journalists. It shows what he really is a bully who can't answer a single question asked of him. He's a joke.

Trump is a notoriously poor debater at the best of times. One of the downsides of claiming Biden is essentially a vegetable, is that it lowers expectations to the extent that getting out coherent sentences is seen as a win for Biden i.e. the Trump standard.

He is destroying the journalists in these briefings and he will destroy Biden in a debate

He really isn't, if he rebuffed their questions with facts rather than rants then yes.

But Don is petty, vindictive and ignorant.
If one is right, one doesn't need to rant. Rather just explain why one is right.
Unless it seems, one is of the right.

He'll have to do a lot better than that. While it doesn't matter what he is/does for his core supporters; he will have to up his game to capture those who tolerated him the last time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,681 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Trump has been a lot more composed in these conferences the last few days... 4 more years guaranteed

His statement that the Dept of Homeland Security leaked a report to a reporter shows how composed he is, more B/S instead of interest in the content of the report which he claims not to have seen. Your reference to Don framing things is ACCURATE.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,371 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

I think he looks like a dangerous moron at these conferences but I think a lot of Americans will love what they are seeing

Also the republicans are so good at voter suppression... I think that will kill Bidens chances
