Bill Bryan, the DHS science and technology directorate discussed a federal study which indicated that the coronavirus is weakened by exposure to sunlight. Trump then spoke right after and appeared to reference a conversation he had already had with Bryan, says it all sounds interesting, especially the UV light studies. He then starts speaking about disinfectant and the effect it has on coronavirus outside the body and ASKS "Is there a way we can do something LIKE that" by way of injection. Nobody could reasonably mistake him asking that question for him giving advice but for the fact that the media along with the left made it something it wasn't.

So do you think when Bill and Trump had this discussion that Bill said anything about disinfecting the inside of humans ?

Do you think any medical professional that took part in a federal study mentioned the possibility of disinfecting the inside of humans ?

Im going to guess as an adult you are going to answer no to both of those questions which then leads us to where did Trump get this idea from, would it be that he didn't pay any attention to the details of the briefing his staff provided and went on to try and sound intelligent and made a complete mess of it.

UV light for surface disinfection is a known and widely used technology.
It's used for rapid disinfection of a surgical instruments, rooms and other surface uses.

Unless and until that company produce a UV butt plug, I don't see how they are scammers?

Or are you going that well trodden route of Trumpian sarcasm?

What is your point here ? That UV light kills viruses and bacteria ?
Or that Trump was right about using UV Light inside of humans ?

It's being suggested that Trump should be removed from office over his comments.

What do you suppose it was that caused Don to pass what you accept his word on as a sarcastic remark: when his comment was about the treatment needed by thousands of Americans infected with the virus after well over 47 thousand have already been killed by the virus?

Given how you believe that Don was honest in his "sarcasm" explanation about his comment, what do you think of Don's state of mind that he would believe it right to be sarcastic about the way to cure the hospitalized victims of the virus?

If you don't agree with his comment, do you think he should apologise for his comment?

It's being suggested that Trump should be removed from office over his comments. Don't recall the tan suit eliciting that sort of reaction. Benghazi
and Fast and Furious perhaps, but defo not the tan suit.

They absolutely are making stuff up as he never told anyone to inject anything and it is being said in the media (and implied on this very thread) that he did.

You go from saying people are merely quoting him to then justifying the "don't drink bleach" nonsense.

What an odd question. If he didn't make the comment would anyone have bothered misrepresenting it?? Eh, how could they misrepresent it if he didn't make it?

Bit of a problem with your interpretation of what Trump meant yesterday as he has now backtracked and explained how he was talking about washing your hands.

"Now, disinfectant when doing this (making a hand-washing gesture), maybe on the hands, would work and I was asking the question of the gentleman who was there yesterday - Bill (Bill Bryan, head of science and tech directorate at US Department of Homeland Security's bio-defence laboratories) - because when they say that something will last three or four hours or six hours but if the sun is out or if they use disinfectant it goes away in less than a minute - did you hear about this yesterday?

"I was asking a very sarcastic question to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside but it does kill it and it would kill it on the hands and that would make things much better. That was done in a form of a sarcastic question to the reporters."

So just so I know the rules of the game we are playing, is everything Trump says open to interpretation by anyone or is this privilege only for his supporters ?

Seems a bit of a standoff with the White House and CNN as a White House staffer came into the briefing room and asked the print media rep to switch with CNN which would move CNN to the very back of the room. The seating arrangements were set by the White House correspondents association not the WH so if there’s a change the WH can't do it.

Nobody will mess with America while Trump is in charge though. He is likely to do anything and everything. He has no problem putting his first thing in the morning thoughts on social media either.

A different president could be seen as weaker. His meetings with the Korean nutball were unprecedented. Iran is sh1ting it's pants. He bombed the second most powerful military leader in the country like it was nothing.

As time passes China Vs US for world leader will become more and more to the fore. Since we are a western world country a strong US is in our benefit.

Nobody will mess with America :pac: delusional. Did you not see the videos of other world leaders impersonating him and laughing at him? He's an absolute joke on the world stage and everyone knows he is extremely easy to manipulate. He needs to be gone as soon as possible so a proper president can begin repairing the damage that has been done. Another term would be the nail in the coffin for American dominance.

Tonight's briefing should be on soon. CNN's 10PM programme is showing the briefing room with a lot of Covid-19 signs on the chairs designating NOT for use to enforce social spacing of the reporters. There's no one from the Admin team in or on the rostrum area yet. I'd like to think, prefer even, that Don not take tonight's briefing as it will probably end in a free for all but that's up to him if he wants to run the presidency further into the mud.

The FDA is advising that Chloroquine and HydroxoChloroquine should only be used in hospital clinical tests, that it causes heart rhythm disruption.

They might mock behind his back. Not one of them would have the guts to do so to his face . He could destroy them using economic or military power. Or both.
The US is running this show and Donald is the conductor
A strong America is good for Ireland

He might use military power to destroy people who mock him?

Surely should not be in power so?

I think America has shot itself in the foot with The Donald. The rest of the world sees him for the clown show that he is. What compounds this clown show perspective is the support he gets from American voters. People outside America are aghast at what America is becoming. His performance throughout this pandemic has been appalling and his press appearances are parodies. Here's the thing. From a global perspective, Trump's America is now making China look very respectable.

That's good news about the at home testing kit, any link to the details on that specific kit?

Why do American journalists question everything but Irish ones don't?

I wouldn't go that far. Their lies about this coronavirus are slowly being uncovered. It's for another thread but I suspect the outbreak started there in november and they had over a quarter of a million cases. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpub/article/PIIS2468-2667(20)30089-X/fulltext

We'll see. The WHO have been very fulsome on their praise of China. But for another thread as you say.

Have you lived through any other administration besides this one as an adult?

The laughing behind his back is very much new. So is being so easily manipulated by the other major powers. Remember when he asked to keep oil prices up a few weeks ago? How's that working out. His game is simple. Other leaders have him figured out and they are either taking advantage or simply ignoring him. He has left the US sidelined.

Even with this crisis, why do you think the Chinese have the outsized influence over the WHO that they do right now? Have you wondered why the Chinese were able to influence an international organisation like that when the USA was so powerful? The answer is obvious to anyone that has been keeping up but you can google it if you like.

It's only one data point but one that's repeated in so many other areas. An isolated and sidelined USA is not a strong one.

Going forward this man of few words is a better tactic since he will be hammered at every opportunity. Save the speeches for the election trail.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,840 ✭✭✭hetuzozaho

I think he might be one of those "I tell it like it is" guys, they tend not to like hearing how it is though.

He's had a bad few days hearing how it is.

    He'll sleep tonight.

Yep I think it's a good decision by him. He's always going to struggle talking to a room with people who know what they are talking about. His shtick works best with the folk who attend his rallies. Save it for them.

Yup, and he's been done with the pandemic for a long time now IMO. Tonight he made sure of any doubt there.

Made a lot of people disappointed by not talking for an hour again tonight. They have nothing to complain about tomorrow. Although it's that predictable that they will complain about his lack of talking instead. He can't win
Damned if he does. Damned if he don't

No no the rules are we have to wait for the daily talking points emails to go out so we can then be told by his supporters what he meant to say or how it was meant to be interpreted.

Unfortunately it looks like todays email may have sent a unready draft because the sarcasm defense seems to have taken even his supporters by surprise.
