Stone was a loud mouth who tinkered with politics, had zero ethics and got way in over his head. Sound familiar?

It has gotten Stone in serious f'n trouble.

It could be said Trump has done likewise, albeit on a grander scale.

    "Tinkered" with politics?!

Good lord , his latest tweets are just incredible

It's not the potential Global Pandemic that is impacting Oil Prices - It's Saudi and Russia arguing over price?
    https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1237024551294382081

But hey, great news for the consumer!!
    https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1237024549046288385

And , just to reassure everyone

    https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1237027356314869761

It's ok , it's not as bad as the flu!!

So , instead of some reassurances about the efforts to fix this stuff , we get a bunch of tweets blaming everybody else with a bit of Large scale whataboutery thrown in.

He'll probably tweet this from the CDC if he's challenged about his flu tweet figures: Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000. The CDC also estimates that up to 31 million Americans have caught the flu this season, with 210,000 to 370,000 flu sufferers hospitalized because of the various flu viruses.

Aloyisious quote: The new one, the Corona virus, is only getting into its stride now and is not included in those figures, plus its too early to do final extrapolations but that wont stop him doing so.

As for the oil price war, he probably wont respond to questions about his tweet covering that item as he knows the chiefs in both countries well. On a bye the bye, the Saudi price cut might explain the arrest of the Kings brother and others in the ruling family by the kings heir apparent, a row about the way Saudi oil is being sold as a commodity - profit cuts hitting their pockets. Plus any comments by him might cause a further drop in the market, despite the automatic stop in trading after 15 minutes if it looks like the bottom is about to drop out of it [a safety brake]. He and his family have to have shares in businesses being traded on the market.

^ He's trying to steer sentiment about everything via Twitter. The above would be tolerable by a random poster on boards.ie, still hard to believe that is the President talking. is anyone telling him to STFU for a few days?

Hope Hicks is back in the chair there and is probably doing her best to deflect him away from doing damage in his tweets. Hope is reputed to have had a cordial working relationship with Don when she was last working in the White House. I think she and Mike Pence are working HAND IN GLOVE behind the public media briefings given by Don and the Medics together trying to blunt the effects of Don giving his take on things.

Trump is going to speak at press briefing by the coronavirus task force.
4 Congressmen have self isolated. One had travelled with Trump on air force One.

Watching it now. Himself and Pence seem to be doing the sensible thing in letting the experts speak.

CNN has the 4 congresspersons as interacting with a person infected by the virus at a conference and that Don also attended the conference and interacted with two of the C/persons. It also reported that the C/persons say they have no symptoms and that they are self-quarantining.

Yep and best of luck to them no matter their policies.

However this is infuriating. He is 66 and refusing to self-quarantine.

I have some pity for those who are struggling financially for not self-quarantining, but this guy is 66 has a few quid and is probably going to work where he will be surrounded by many elderly people.

The work can be easily done from home which makes it even more absurd. I wish him well, but the likes of Pelosi and Mc Carthy need to tell him the **** the **** off . I'd be fuming if I was a constituent of his.

One thing on the horizon for the DNC at national and state levels are the 6 states holding Democrat Party caucuses tomorrow, 10 March. How will the staff running the events manage the way people are accessing the centres to vote given [with the outbreak] they will now have another task to perform at the centres and will the outbreak have an effect on the numbers turning out to vote? I'm expecting the media to provide us some live feed from the entry areas of the centres of people coming and going there but.....

Edit: One of the congressman was caught on camera shaking Don's hand after the conference on Feb 29th. Apparently this Congressman was also caught on camera seated in Congress itself apparently making a sarcastic point about the chances of people being infected by the virus by wearing a gasmask there.

I know some of Dons fanbase here will decry anything which smells of doing Don down by implication but the PR piece the other day by the US surgeon general [which seems to have no relevance to anything in relation to the upcoming election] on the Presidents state of health versus the S/G's own health may suddenly have a different light thrown on it, like; do the caretakers have something to worry about given his age?

@rjd2: Ditto. I wouldn't wish a **** ending to anyone by way of a virus.

CNN has just reported that Mark Meadows has put himself into self quarantine. This by itself means nothing other than him taking a safety procedure following on from his duties meeting people. The virus gives no initial signs of it passing from person to person or it incubating in people so its good that he's aware of that fact & safeguarding against the chance of it using him as an unaware transmitter. It does bring up the point that he is [AFAIK] still a serving member of the house of Congress and in contact, wearing two hats, with members of that house. CNN called him the 5th member of Congress when making the report about his putting himself into quarantine in relation to the virus.

CNN also put up the segment of Mike Pence answer to a question from the journalists if Don had been tested for the virus, after Don left the briefing. Mike said the answer would be given by the White House physician. Standing immediately behind Mike at that moment was the US Surgeon general in his navy uniform who the other day told the media that Don was fitter for his age then he is himself at his own age.

US Surgeon General in his navy uniform

Technically it's a PHS uniform, the design is Navy based, but the buttons, devices etc are PHS. Goes back to the origin of PHS as a service for mariners.

And what about the North Korea style obsequiousness? Saying Trump is fitter than him was akin to saying KJU shot a rake of hole in ones on his first ever time playing golf. Is that level of ridiculous propaganda a new development?

Why the **** aren't people calling that out?

Seriously, this guy's only strategy is to launch investigations into things he finds politically damaging to him. It's beyond pathetic.

My favorite part about this asinine idea is it either ignores the rest of the worlds media or somehow he's saying they are complicit?

I am not sure the rest of the world is something he or a lot of his base considers at all.

If they don't watch it it doesn't exist.

I only got two words for Trump; Spring Break...

Expect an explosion in about a month or so in terms of the spread in the US after millions of hormone filled youths from all over the US will congregate in one area to paaaaaarrty before returning home and of course that's followed shortly after by Easter which once again will see parks filled with people from all over the places coming together. If Trump thinks it's bad now he'll be stark raving mad come end of April.

Well yeah, obviously. It's clear that they are all in on this hoax with the Democratic Party with the intention of making Trump look bad so that he loses the election. It's sofa king retarded but similarly retarded ideas get posted here all the time. I mean, calling global warming or the Russia investigations a Democratic hoax happens here so often that we don't even blink and instead just skim over the stupidity of it.

Ta for the origins info, coughs gently.

On the issue of the virus outbreak, the body representing the Immigration Court Service judges advised its members the official English and Spanish language versions of the CDC’s ‘Stop the Spread of Germs’ and ‘Symptoms of Coronavirus Disease 2019’ posters giving the public advice about the virus should be put up in the court buildings for the benefit of people attending the courts only for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), which oversees the immigration courts, order the posters be taken down.

Get it right. Global warming was a Chinese hoax!

I am sure the Democrats have been blamed a few times as well though

    On what possible grounds?

The level of pettiness (and in this case disregard to Health and Safety) is just staggering

    On the grounds that

    1) if immigrants are infected with the virus, then Trump has a further stick to publicly beat them with - "build the wall" etc

    2) if immigrants get sick, they may tell folk at home not to come over

    3) if they die, less immigrants.

Those are the "real" reasons . What did they use as an excuse though?

It's unlikely that Fox are going to cover it. And if they do, they'll tell their followers that the budget to fight the virus is being used on citizens rather than illegal immigrants.

They make up what they want. Hannity is playing it all down while Carlson is saying it should be taken seriously and facts should be provided.

    And then you have this...

In an email obtained by legal news website Law & Crime, an EOIR judge wrote: “This is just a reminder that immigration judges do not have the authority to post, or ask you to post, signage for their individual courtrooms or the waiting areas.

“Per our leadership, the CDC flyer is not authorised for posting in the immigration courts. If you see one (attached), please remove it.”
    From here.

I was thinking that because the initiative wasn't run past the EOIR desk jockeys first, they shot it down. Noting that an EOIR judge agreed with the shoot-down emphasises they don't like people acting without their go ahead.

Pretty sure he means the press. Really when this nonsense happens a real journalist should immediately call it for what it is. All the questions should be based on why are you lying.

Just thought it was a vastly more important and concerning point than the type of uniform he was wearing.
