Ian Taylor for the Villa. Heart of a lion.
Alan Hutton aka the Scottish Cafu did his Villa cult status credentials no harm with this goal against Blues

Andrei Kanchelskis for me. Still had a jersey with his name on it until recently enough

I had his name on one of my jerseys. Expensive business, my mother suggested I get Giggs or Ince :pac:

    Paul MaGrath or Pat Bonner

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

A day and a half in. Still no Lee Trundle.

    A well deserved mention.

    Hes still playing too.

Cantona at United (and I say this as a Liverpool fan).

For me, cult is not just about the quality, it's the attitude and personality and that x-factor I-don't-give-a-****-what-people-think mentality.

EDIT - for the "my club" pedants: Suarez

Universally loved, lynchpin of the team is probably the opposite of a cult icon.

You arguably managed to name 2 of those in 1 post. :D

I had his name on one of my jerseys. Expensive business, my mother suggested I get Giggs or Ince :pac:

    I had Rush 9.

Youd know I was paying for it myself. :)

Bolton Wanderers. We had some fantastic players for a period. They’ll always be the Bolton I remember

    - Kevin Davies was my hero growing up. Consistently the player with the most fouls and also the most fouled 😂
    - Jay Jay Okocha, mentioned already, I have many friends who would sit through a Bolton game with me just to watch him play
    - Ivan Campo, fantastic player, WUM and floppy hair! Loved when you’d see all the wigs in the crowd
    - Per Frandsen for me, the man had a sweet right peg

    Just some other mentions:
Jaaskelainen (spelling?), Nicky Hunt, Djorkaeff, Stelios, Gundi Bergsson
I literally could go on and on....

    Leighton baines

What an underrated player in his prime.

Christopher Wreh (Arsenal) might be one. Scored a few vital goals in the title run in and FA cup run in 97/98 when Bergkamp and Wright were missing, season Arsenal went on to win the double. He didn’t do much at Arsenal after, but will be remembered for that alone. Was George Weah cousin as well I think.

George Weah's cousin was Ali Dia - fact

To Matt Le Tissier's amusement and shame... he was subbed off and replaced by Ali Dia.

Graeme Souness then substituted Ali Dia when he realised the fraud.

    Philly Hughes

From an Everton POV it has to be Duncan Ferguson - his goal scoring record wasn't actually that good but he just got the club and everyone loved him (and still do)

Outside of Everton I'd plump for Lucas Radebe, he seemed to get Leeds and always put a shift in - a player I remember with great fondness
