Hi all I’m 8 weeks pregnant with twins and trying to decide on Holles St or Rotunda. Can anyone recommend a consultant who specializes in twin births and / or high risk? I want someone whose thorough, happy to take the time to explain whatever needs to happen but kind in their approach as I’m already terrified & feeling quite vulnerable. I’m covered for semi private with my health insurance but also wondering if I should go private instead as it is higher risk? First pregnancy and no twins on either side of the family so completely clueless re twin pregnancies and births😬

As far as I know once you are classified as High risk due to twins you automatically get assigned a consultant so I wouldn't think you'll have to pay for private to get the extra attention. That was my sister's experience anyway - although she was in CUMH not Dublin - she was automatically overseen by a consultant who specialises in multiples & have very close monitoring, which was via public. As far as I know the main difference with semi private in Dublin is ward size afterwards.

Have never had twins! I think Ronan Gleeson is the twin man in the rotunda! Ring his secretary.
    Rotunda private is fab.

I am expecting twins and going to Stephen Carroll in Holles Street, going privately as I wanted to have more visits and see the same doctor and each visit plus if I end up needing a section I would prefer to have my own room for the 5 nights. I went public last time round and couldn't fault it at all, that was also the original plan this time round until we found out it was twins which changed things!
I have found Stephen Carroll great so far but only half way through. Happy to give you the time, answer questions and very thorough!
