Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Virgin Media FTTH

    Hi All,
Just thought some might be interested, we got our Virgin Media FTTH installed today. Installer called at 8am and spent about an hour blowing fibre up the duct to the ETU and then fitted an ONT that converts Fibre to Coax in your utility room. Modem attached to ONT with CoAx. We wanted Eir/Airwire but it looks like the estate is too new and wont be cabled for a while.
We're on 500Mbps package and I'm getting speeds of 530Mbps on a wired connection. Interesting during the speed test it spiked in the 600 and 700's a few times but averaged at 530Mbps. Latency is 10-13ms.
    Very impressed.

Still using CoAx because they don't want to sort out their decade old TV platform

I didn't realise Virgin were doing full FTTH. Is it GPON or XGS-PON?

Apparently is RFoG for the time being.

Very interesting, makes a lot of sense for new builds. And RFoG makes sense for commonality in a cable company. Comcast in the US is doing the same and even Verizon FTTH uses hybrid RFoG to carry TV!

Speeds are good even though it's not GPON
