Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I’m not sure that’s true, limited publishing of copyright material is permissable for purposes of criticism or review and that falls under public interest.

The problem with the publication of the diaries is that the published material is the story itself, therefore public interest in the contents of that specific material didn’t exist until after it was published. If the subject of the private correspondence was already a matter of public interest then the comparison to the publication of Charles or Andrews diaries is not comparable to this case at all.

It's not poem or novel she wrote. It wasn't intended for public release so there is no valid reason to engage in literary criticism or review.

You think there would have been no public interest in the contents of Prince Charles' diaries before them being published?

It doesn’t have to be for criticism or review for its literary or aesthetic value. A newspaper can publish a reproduction of a painting while only reporting how much it sold for.

Lets see how this court case progress’s and let us see who withdraws , if either does. This at least will be interesting !

Personally nothing I’ve read about it all has come from Buzzfeed. Various publications compared the headlines relating to Kate and Meghan.

Sorry, missed your post. Yes, many reposted the Buzzfeed article and some added a couple more examples. I don’t think many of them stand up to scrutiny.

For example, the headlines about William and Kate getting trademarks compared to Harry and Meghan getting trademarks fails to mention that William and Kate, as full members of the royal family, are prohibited from profiting from commercial ventures like this. Since Harry and Meghan have stepped outside that arrangement, they are now able to profit from these trademarks. That difference is critical to the headlines they compare but Buzzfeed don’t explain to their readers.

I think without doubt it is going to be Harry and Meghan who withdraw from the court case. Theres no way they are stupid enough to find themselves in a witness box getting grilled by a high level QC in front of a public gallery mobbed with the media. It would turn into a complete and utter circus.

The Daily Mail will want this case to go ahead and onto full trial and I cant see them making any pre settlement offer. Even if they lose (which they likely will) and have to pay a million in damages that isnt in the ha'penny place compared to the increased newspaper circulation they would get from Harry and Megan testifying in an open court. The Mails editors would be thinking all their Christmases and birthdays came at once to get the opportunity to send their best attack dog of a QC to grill them on their private life in public.

If Harry and Meghan do go through with it they had better be prepared to open a huge can of worms. Aside from the circus of Thomas Markle testifying against his daughter you can be certain that the Mail will produce other witnesses who formerly worked for the couple to defend their stories based on their leaks. Theres no upside in the case for Harry and Meghan, even if they win they will suffer massive collateral damage in doing so.

They also get to dodge paying taxes in two places at once. But remember they're stunning and brave and principled for leaving the royal family. Anyone who can't see this is just a cash in for them is blind, they don't give a damn about what the daily mail say about them all they wanted to do was seek other opportunities. This can be seen by Harry unsubtly flogging his wife's alleged voice acting skills to the former Disney CEO. Pathetic.

Meghan is an American citizen, she doesn't get to dodge taxes based on where she lives. Are you Piers Morgan, by any chance?

No but she's hardly moving to America to avoid paying her taxes as an American citizen. There are words there. Read them and stop licking the multimillionaires boots like a pleb.

They'd have to pay taxes in the US and Canada, now only in the us. That's what I meant.

so "dodging" taxes in one country and by dodging you mean the cunning ruse of not living there? what despicable rogues they are. By that measure they are dodging taxes in every country in the world apart from the US.

Your favourite read, the Daily Pissoir, told you get all hot and bothered about Meghan moving from A to B to avoid paying tax. That doesn't apply to her because as an American citizen, if she earns over a certain amount, her income is taxable by the US government on the basis of owed amount, less tax already paid, so if she's avoided paying tax in the Uk and Canada, the amount owing to the US government would be the full amount. Capiche?

They epitomise what is wrong with mainstream celebrity culture whereby worship from the brain dead masses can come from being plain, dull and useless at the expense of real achievements from truly great people. Abandoning their roles as royals and being lauded for this as if they are stepping out into the great unwashed world was bad enough as the mongs praise them for this despite it being clear to those classed as cynical that it was just a ploy to get precious Megan into her ultra elite, vacuous Hollywood safe space, not to become philanthropic heroes. Now those chickens have come home to roost and it seems like people still praise them. They themselves and the mindless morons who fawn over them are strongly representative of toxic mainstream celebrity culture.

You clearly have zero experience of making money, running a business , earning money, being financially responsible for others such as employees

Explain how it is remotely intelligent to subject yourself to double taxation

No wonder why the council estate riff raff, the socialists, the welfare spongers and SF supporters can’t be taken seriously. Far far too worried about others than dealing with their own failures in life and finding someone else to blame for their position

Those two chips on your shoulder, gosh, that must be some burden to carry

You sound like you are reading from a Daily Pissoir script, making it rather ironic for you to be referring to people not doing so as mindless morons.

Meghan was doing philanthropic work before she ever met Harry, and that is actually how she met Harry. I don't see why you or anyone else should twist that into some form of spiteful criticism. Why do you care where she lives or why?

If you don't approve of toxic mainstream celebrity culture, why are you so dedicated to following it and the every move of people you accuse of being participants?

And further to your points, Meghan's work on voicing that Disney film results in a large donation to an elephant conservation charity. Not many of us have the leverage to make such a large impact. But yeah, shame on them? Wow.

That was a really cheap shot by Trump but it did make me laugh. She started it by calling him misogynist and decisive, he called her nasty back so when they moved to LA he just couldnt resist sticking the boot in again! She also said that if Trump got elected in 2016 she would stay in Canada, hasnt turned out that way

Definitely a cheap shot! But I think she said she would move there, not that she would stay there? And she did move there (as well as abroad to the UK) so I guess that counts for something. :pac:

This whole thing hasn't worked out too well for them. The state of California governor may look after them for virtue points though.

If they go to California without a serious security operation, it will prick the ears of some small time gangs. The Mexican Cartels wouldnt bother, it brings too much hassle. Your local medium sized gang may have notions and chance their arm.

I think Hollywood is a term often used when it would be more correct to refer to Hollywood Hills and Hollywood West. I believe there are a lot of people living in the latter two suburbs who are a lot wealthier than Harry and Meghan. Since I don't hear about those people being constantly subject to gang violence, I would think Harry and Meghan are no more likely to suffer from gang violence than any other millionaires in those suburbs.
