I just wondered if anyone could reccommend a good electrician locally. I have just been given the following quote for electrical work in an older house (electricity was only disconnected 7 months ago and was functioning). Is this the norm, as I thought it was high. Any suggestions would be welcome.
1 twin socket & light in Parlour
1 twin socket an light front tv rm
1 light in hall an 1 outside light
1 light hall upstairs. I light 4 beds up
    2 sockets up
    3500
    6 smoke detectors/1 heat ( regulation )..€600
    Now 4100
    Call it 4000 plus vat a 13.5%=540
    New total €4500 all in.
2500 at beginning. 2000 at end when handing u Cert.
    Test an certification

A standard 3 bed house would be 6k mark in dublin but that's a rewire

No, its not a rewire. Wiring has already been done. It is in Co. Limerick

So is this price just for testing to reconnect?

Finally found a decent electrician. Big difference with what ondividual elctricians for exactly the same work. Final cost came in as half what the original guy was charging. Seems a bit of a rip off really charging such different charges for the same job

It may have the appearance of being the same job, but the reality may be very different. Standards vary considerably between electrical contractors as a quick search of this forum can demonstrate.

On the other hand maybe you just got a very good deal :)
Hopefully it works out well for you.
