    Hi,

I'm confused about the various types of audio systems available and googling is just making me more confused!  I was hoping if I listed my requirements in terms of what I listen to that someone could give me some recommendations?

Main thing is listening to CDs and radio but I want better quality than the mini-hifi setups I've had until now.  I also want to hook up my TV, not for surround sound just to get better sound than the built in speakers.  Most of what I watch on TV is DVD/Blu ray so something that works with that without adding too much complexity to the setup.  As secondary requirements, I'd like to be able to stream stuff from my phone, mostly radio or podcasts to the sound system.  Also, the ability to set up wireless speakers in a second room to play the same audio as the main room would be nice but not essential.  Main room is relatively small (c.4.5m x 3.5m).

I have no idea on budget.  At this stage I'm just trying to figure out what type of system suits best - I would say listening to high quality music is more important to me than watching TV, but not sure how an amplifier or stereo receiver would work with playing DVDs.  Any advice/suggestions would be most welcome.

    Hi Comhra,

I appreciate that your intention is to be helpful, and nice to hear that you are happy with your system, but queries here are for Richersounds to answer, as set out in the Charter :
If you see a post which is looking for a quote or advice from RS, please resist the urge to offer your opinion. Such queries are not an open invitation for posters to make suggestions etc, these queries should be left to RS to answer. If queries or requests for quotes attracted everyone's opinion, the forum would be unworkable. This is not intended to prevent the usual chat and banter which you will regularly see on the RS forum.

I’ve snipped your post accordingly. A quick read through the Charter will help with forum posting standards.

    Ritz.

    Hey Tawfeeredux.

    Thanks for the post.

It's all going to come down to your budget as there any many many many ways to do what you require.

Stock with a Mini System there is the Marantz MCR612 priced at 569 Euro - This is much better than the basic mini systems and is very very well spec'd.
It also has HEOS built in which would aloow you to connect other HEOS devices around you home and link them altogether using the Heos App.
Also has an optical connection so you can connect your TV.

Speakers to go along with this you could look at the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 priced at 249 Euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12901-monitor-audio-bronze-2-black-black-speakers-per-pair.aspx?swapstore=1

Or perhaps the Fyne Audio F301 priced at 269 Euro

If you wanted to go separates then there is a nice little bundle deal on the Marantz PM6006SE UK, CD6006SE UK and the Bronze 2 for just 949 Euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-13586-marantz-pm6006-uk-amp-cd6006-uk-monitor-audio-bronze-2-black-speakers-marantz-amp-cd-monitor-audio-speakers.aspx

You would need to add the Marantz NA6006 for streaming. Its currently on a cracking deal at 399 Euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-13584-marantz-na6006-network-streamer-black-network-audio-player-streamer.aspx

You could also go for the NR1200 which is an amp and steamer combined. It also adds in HDMI inputs, on a stereo amp this is very rare.
Also has the Heos features for multi room.
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-204356-marantz-nr1200-black-network-stereo-av-receiver.aspx?swapstore=1

You would then just add speakers and a CD player like the CD5005 priced at 219 Euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12815-marantz-cd5005-black-cd-player.aspx

You would also require some speaker cable and phono cables for connecting everything together.
Optical or HDMI cables would also be required depending on which setup and what cables you might already have at home.

Let me know if any of the above might be of interest or if anything else on our website has caught your eye.
