I've recommended this one a few times on here, a good option to buy locally:

    https://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bike-lights/bike-lights/bikehut-1600-lumen-front-bike-light

Very good focused light from it, it being in one unit is a plus for a light of this power and the battery life is very good. The main con is that the light is large to accommodate the large battery inside it. It's often on sale from Halfords, so worth keeping an eye on.

I'd rather **** in my hands and clap than give Halfords any money. :o

I use the Lidl headlight on Unlit roads/canal bank its beam is like a car headlight, so most of the light goes on the ground,
Have a 4xAA version, and a USB version.
Use both on poor surface roads, canal and only need one on good surface rural roads.

the back light is meh though

I was cycling with someone I know and I noted the pretty powerful shaped beam coming off their headlight. It turns out it was a Lidl headlight. Really pretty good!

I tempted to get some superglue to bond it together.

A bit of threadlocker is very handy to have in the toolbox and easier to work with than superglue. Like this:
