    Hi There,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on Boards.

We would recommend activating your Visa Debit Card as soon as possible. Please be assured your card can be activated at any ATM that displays the 'VISA' sign.

Once your card has been activated it can be used for online/contactless transactions.

    Thanks, Aisling.

    Thanks for your reply.

Is there a specific time limit before the card cannot be activated?

    Thanks

    Hi TaggyMatcher,

Thanks for getting back to us.

The card can be activated as soon as it arrives. The card would then need to be activated within the timeframe outlined in the letter you received with the card. This would generally be within the first 3-4 weeks.

    I hope this information helps.

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Thanks for your reply Richard,

Is it possible to activate a debit card outside of Ireland by checking the balance and does a withdrawal have to be made. The advice on BOI FAQ is somewhat unclear.

    Thanks

    Hi TaggyMatcher,

If you are activating your card at a Non-Bank of Ireland ATM, a withdrawal would have to be made. There would be no minimum amount for how much this withdrawal may be.

Rest assured we will pass the feedback on to our website team. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

    Thanks,
    Richard
