    Hi,

Looking for recommendations for a good combo box, sat n Test. Any that run on their own decent software or do most people switch to E2 to have epg and recording like sky. I know of the VU ones but anything good that comes in a bit cheaper.

    Thanks

Gerry Wicklow seems to beat me to this recommendation each time, but plus 1 for this...

openATV is my choice for stability and support. It also seems to have the best range of extra plugins. Some prefer openVIX but its been a while since I looked at it.

To throw a wrinkle in, I use Pure2, as I find it's the best looking - it's been super stable for me too..

@dulpit do you have a link to the Zgemma Pure2 image?

http://www.pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.2/airdigital/ or http://www.pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.3/airdigital/, I'd need to check when I go home if I have 6.2 or 6.3 version. They don't have separate H7S and H7C images, so just grab the one marked zgemmah7

Cheers didnt look under that heading. i was looking for a Zgemma folder
The H7S has a multiboot option so you can have several different images installed at once. Made by geeks for geeks LOL

I got the H7S box recently and was a bit aggrieved that I can't record two channels at once on terrestrial. (I know it's my own fault for not knowing the difference between single tuner and double tuner). I just assumed that it would allow it as it had a lot of other bells and whistles.

Is there any modification that can be made like an adapter of sorts that could allow it to record any two channels at once?

It should only be an issue if you are trying to record from both muxes at once E.G. RTE1 and 2
Many modern TVs have a basic recording function so you might be able to use the Tv to record onto a USB dongle while the box records the other. At the very least you can watch one while recording the other. It may be possible to add a USB tuner to the box but I have no experience of this. Others here might be able to advise.

Sorry, I didn't mean record two channels at once. You are correct, I can make two recordings from the same mux.

I didn't realise however that I wouldn't be able to record one channel on mux 1 and watch another channel on mux 2 simultaneously. I thought this would be possible but it appears not. I will look into USB tuners, thanks.

If you only need to watch one while recording another, then why not use the TVs own tuner for viewing while the box records the other. No need to buy further equipment then

I'm not sure I can do that as the tv can't accept saorview, only the old analog signal. Also I would l likely need a second cable from the aerial or a splitter? I might just make do with what it offers.

I use an external USB tuner on a Tiviar AlphaPlus to get around that limitation. I just had to install a new driver from the feed, and good to go. There is no reason why that approach wouldn't work for you, as both receivers use the same software.

The USB Tuner I used is no longer available. However, if you search this forum and the satellite one, there are a number of recommendations that have worked for others.
