    Mary Lou went to my school and came from a very fine house on leafy Orwell Road. What would Whacker think of that? Probably like the taxi driver who took me home via that road who was stunned when I told him she wasn’t the simple wurkin class gerrl he thought she was.

    These "leafy homes" are a bit overrated anyway. When the first gales of autumn come, one has to go out and sweep 'em up or hire a fella with a leaf blower. More work and expense.
