I gave “Drain the Dog” my number 13 vote. Even the outside of his Litir Um Thogain was insane.

Really shoudn't be doing that (if confirmed). But also gives him publicity he doesn't deserve.

Probably the same person who's been destroying his posters. I've seen a few balled up in ditches next to the stupid wooden signs by the road side.
I doubt wind balls posters up.

Doherty & MacLochlainn both elected on the first count a few minutes ago.

Id imagine that would wrap up the count for tonight.

Was there any other constituency where 2 candidates were elected on the 1st count?

Well well well.pringle got some bump. He should transfer better from here in as well.
Last seat between cope and mchugh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,196 ✭✭✭✭muffler

Pringle will also benefit from MacLochlainns transfers but McHugh will get a huge transfer when Harley gets eliminated so it's all to play for but I'd still make McHugh favourite to take a seat

If we assume the people who put SF @ 1 also put SF @ 2 however as both SF people got elected on the first count, on their cards do the people doing the counting on the second count read the number 3's off their card or how does it work?

    Hope that Q made sense.

O Donnell goes before Harley ,Cope will get through on transfers, McConnells elimination will go to FG as he is gene pool, Casey will take McConalogue over the line

As far as I know the second preferences are counted but after that it gets a wee bit complicated.

Im open to correction but when a candidate or candidates have been elected their surplus (number 2's) are checked during the next round of counting and transferred accordingly. After that (eliminations) it works along the lines of a sample bundle of their votes is retained and then any transferable votes are distributed but I dont know the basis for determining how they are divided though.

If you have the time this document might shed some light

As there is over 2000 votes separating them I dont see how O'Donnell will go before Harley

Green party and Mary T have to go after Casey and dog boy , Greens won't transfer to O Donnell, might transfer to Harlley, handwringers unite, Mary T seconds are probably SF so few to transfer

    Pringle (5472) + 2798 = 8270 +251 = 8521
    McHugh (7621) + 472 = 8093 +36 = 8129
    O’Donnell (4735) + 885 = 5620 +160 = 5780
    Harley (3056) +435 = 3491 +11 = 3502
    Sweeney (2382) + 445 = 2827 + 80 = 2907
    White (1656) + 457 = 2113 +81 = 2194
    Casey (1143) + 661 = 1804 + 145 = 1950

After the transfer of Harley's votes it's neck and neck at the top. Joe McHugh with a huge leap. Count 8 results.

    McHugh +1932 10920
    Pringle +514 10755
    McConalogue +216 10270
    Gallagher +628 10146

It all comes down to John O'Donnell's preferences @RTEDonegal #GE2020 https://t.co/VMgpGsu1l7

So McHugh not in trouble at all as one poster claimed he would be.

The mutterings on Highland suggest McConalogue is most at risk

It's a bit of a cliffhanger and it will be down to O'Donnell's transfers. Any one of the remaining 4 could loose out.

Edit/ According to the latest on Highland Radio The Cope will be the loser!
