Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can a legal executive give advice in a particular area of law through private practice?

If not, why do the likes of citizens advice (who look for just leaving cert for their jobs) have the power to do so?

Just food for thought on my own behalf.

I assume you mean Citizens Information? The Citizens Information Board is a statutory body, governed by specific legislation: https://www.citizensinformationboard.ie/en/about/. Also, they have this in their disclaimer:
In particular, the information provided on this site is not legal advice or professional advice of any other kind, and should not be considered to be such, or relied or acted upon in that regard. If you need legal or other professional advice, you should consult a suitably qualified person.

    Yeah them.

Whatever about their online content and disclaimer, alot of people avail of their services one to one in various places around the country. Do they just give them same information and tell them the disclaimer?

they generally just inform people of their rights in the abstract without giving specific advice based on their scenario.

they technically can but can't put themselves forward as alegal professional, can't appear in court, can't sign documents and actual solicitors aren't obliged to deal with them on your behalf

CIC information officers strictly never give legal advice.

That's why they host legal aid clinics, usually once a week. They can point people who need legal advice towards those

CICs tend to give practical advice, not legal advice.
