Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A Public Consultation was held last week for thoughts / submissions on the latest iteration of a new Masterplan for Wine St Car Park. (The previous plans by Treasury Holdings from the Tiger era appear to have been sidelined) . I thought id post some thoughts of mine here. If anyone wants to add to the thread feel free

Unless Tesco , Dunnes and Penneys decide to relocate within the Site and work together to build new Retail premises with the required parking placed underground and integrated into the development then Id suggest

Designating the entire Adelaide street frontage zone as a multi storey car park with the strict caveat that it is designed to look like an attractive building / row of buildings and not a car park - ie. suggestions as follows

Building form / envelope to be traditional with high quality materials - pitched roofs / Hip truss with natural slate finish , over white brick / random rubble facade .Maybe a series of Arches or other features in natural stone / brick etc

Make the entire Elevational treatments to Adelaide street to be of high quality with a similar style to Pollexfen Building - not pastiche - high quality. Have the East Elevation to Central 'Space' contain some commercial units for the first 1 or 2 levels in place of a row of parking .
Upper levels to the facade might be enhanced using greenery as an extension of the Central space - planted facade
The intention would be to shift or 'sweep' most of the existing Wine St parking to the westernmost portion of the site and at the same time provide both a new 3 or 4 storey street frontage to Adelaide St and enclosure to a new central Green Space or Park . Access/Exit for Cars from Adelaide st fed by loop from the N4 road.

Some examples of innovative approaches to multistorey car parks overseas shown in links below. Not neccessarily suitable for Wine St. but you get the idea - a multistorey car park doesnt have to look like a multistorey car park (usually hideous )

With the car parking pushed to the west and concentrated in stacked form , this frees up the site for a new Landscaped Green Space / Public Park with a nice mix of native and exotic tree species and various new pedestrian links diagonally across the site - maybe from Pollefexen House to Johnston Court Arcade etc, a new arch near Brodericks. Maybe a pavillion / ponds / fountain . Open up a vista to the Cathedrals .The intended outcome would be to encourage new + infill development surrounding the space. Quite dependant on the big retailers long term plans - whether they reconfigure existing premises or relocate within the site to new Buildings
